Metal Motors Azani with 1000 PS First All-Electric Supercar of India
Mean Metal Motors (MMM) was established in 2014 to produce high-performance electric vehicles. With 1,000PS and 1,000Nm of performance, the Azani has been previewing as the company's halo product. It features a 120kWh battery pack and a range of 550 to 700 kilometres. MMM plans to use modular products and micro-factories to overhaul the EV manufacturing process in India. The Azani is anticipating to release in 2025, with a starting price of approximately $120,000 (Rs 88.98 lakh).
The prototype will be unveiled in the second half of 2022, according to Mean Metal Motors. It will cost approximately USD 120,000, according to the manufacturer (around Rs 88.96 lakh). However, according to plan (and what the automaker claims), this electric supercar may position itself as a credible competitor to Tesla, which expects to introduce the Model 3 in India later this year.
What is Azani?
The Azani is the newest creation by Mean Metal Motors (MMM), an Indian manufacturer formed in 2014 to produce high-performance electric cars. The Azani electric supercar has several impressive features for a young first attempt of the automaker. According to the manufacturer, It boasts 1,000 horsepower and 1,000 pound-feet of torque, a top speed of 350 kmph, and a 0-100 kmph sprint time of under 2 seconds. The Azani has a 120-kilowatt-hour battery pack with a range of 550 to 700 kilometres.
It moreover looks at the part with an athletic design that appears to be influenced by aerodynamics. The Azani has well-defined contours and bulging wheel arches, which should give it plenty of road presence. The front axle is considerably closer to the front axle than the rear axle and the cockpit is quite forward. It will have a skateboard-style chassis with a carbon driver tub and an aluminium space frame surrounding it for a robust yet light design MMM is already on board.
Official statements by Sarthak Paul, CEO of Mean Metal Motors
The Indian start-up employs a small team of 22 individuals who work in fields of research and development, design, aerodynamics, and engineering. It also collaborates with technical partners in Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
In reaction to the announcement, Sarthak Paul, CEO of Mean Metal Motors, remarked, "Since the automotive sector has given a big EV push, it is time for Mean Metal Motors to demonstrate its competence."
“Due to a lack of infrastructure, the current background of transitioning to electric automobiles in the country looks far away, but we believe that full electrification is only a few years away from a corporate standpoint. Our main objective is to create an atmosphere that encourages the quick adoption of electrification, not to build an electric supercar. India falls significantly behind the West in terms of industrial processes, and we are here to change that”, he added.
What are the other plans of MMM?
The business has bigger ambitions than just making fast EVs. It intends to change the EV production process and reduce the technical gap between the EV ecosystem of India and the West by introducing modular product development. According to MMM, micro-manufacturing facilities may substantially reduce production costs.
The Azani, MMM's halo product, could be available by 2025. It is not the first time launching a product. It had already shown off the M-Zero in 2016, although in a digitally produced version. It had set to debut in 2019. The M-Zero has not been mentioning, but the Azani project should finish on time.
Mean Metal Motors, a new electric vehicle manufacturer in India, is gearing up to make a big splash with the Azani electric supercar that has been digitally previewing. The MMM Azani claims to be the first of its kind in the country is a significant enterprise.
