EV Fast-charging Technology
Indian EV Industry is the quickest developing industry and before we can understand what enormous role it will play in our coming future many organizations have effectively begun investing that it is a hotshot industry. Presently, we should follow up on the stage for the time is less, the interest will before the long climb and before it reaches the apex. How about we gather some information about the fastest charging technology that is imparted by the EV charging infrastructure.
To charge your Electric Vehicle, you can do the charging with three types of chargers.
- AC Chargers: It allows you to charge 3-4 times more. Installation can be done easily at any location.
- DC Chargers: DC Chargers are the quickest method to charge your EV-both out in the open and private with a force of 50W or more. It requires around 40 minutes to energize your EV to 80%.
Fact: According to BESCOM, the current fixed charges per kW for low tension (LT) voltage (AC – slow chargers) is INR 60 for each kW, and high pressure (HT) voltage (DC – quick charges) is INR 190 for every kW for high voltage line.
In this article, we’ll be discovering everything you need to know about DC chargers(Fast charging technology).
Types of Electric vehicle charging station
You can plug into a charger connected to the electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE). There are three significant classifications of EV chargers.
Level 1
- It uses a 120V standard household circuit. It comes with your car.
- No additional installation costs are incurred.
- To charge your EV completely might take one night.
Level 2
- For both commercial (204 AC Plug) & residential (208 AC Plug) use.
- It requires additional charging equipment installation & a higher cost.
- Faster charging with level 2 charge, can be found in parking lots.
Level 3
- The high installation cost of charging stations, high-powered equipment, and chargers through a 480V
- Fastest charging, 80% in 20 minutes of charge.
- Mostly commercial use.
DC chargers
Direct-current(DC) fast charging equipment (typically 208/480 three-phase input). It enables rapid charging alone with heavy traffic corridors at installed corridors ( Charging stations are placed at regular distances along the highway corridor, as are highway sections equipped with the charging lane). As of 2020, over 15% of public EVSE ports in the United States are DC Fast chargers. There are three types of DC Fast charging systems, depending on the type of charge port on the vehicles: SAE Combined charging system (CCS), CHAdeMO, and Tesla.
1. CCS: The CCS Connector (also known as the J1772 combo). It is unique because a driver can use the same charge pot when charging with Level 1, Level 2, or DC fast charging equipment. The only difference is that the DC Fast charging has two additional bottom pins.
2. CHAdeMO: CHAdeMO is the most common of the three connector types. It has a separate port for both AC Charging. A CHAdeMO can charge up to 50kW.
3. Tesla: Tesla Vehicles have a unique connector that works for all charging levels includes their fast charging option, called a Supercharger. Although Tesla vehicles do not have a CHAdeMO charge port and do not come with a CHAdeMO adapter, Tesla does not sell an adapter.
