When Will WagonR EV be launched in the market ?
The Indian market has seen a range of
Electric vehicle launches in the past couple of years, and the trend is only
set to rise high soon, with a range of EVs lined up for a launch in 2021,in which one of the most awaited ones is WagonR EV. It is
the first First Maruti Electric Car from the revered carmaker Maruti.
In October 2018, Maruti Suzuki had flagged-off the new WagonR-based EVs from its Gurugram facility. Maruti said that those EVs would be tested in various weathers and terrains and the data gathered from this would help the company in studying and successfully launching electric vehicle technology in India.
In case you don’t know, Maruti has
been testing the electric version of the Wagon R since 2018, in which 50
standard prototypes were put to test. These prototypes were based on the Japanese
spec WagonR, which was originally launched in the Japanese market in 2017. The car was all set to launch in the Indian
market in 2020 but due to Covid Pandemic it was delayed and now it is expected
to be launched in April 2021, and it is expected to carry a price tag of under
Rs 10 lakh, which will make it one of the most affordable electric cars in the
Indian market.
The EV is powered by an electric motor, which will come with a power of 50 kW. As of now, we are quite not sure about the final torque and power that this new vehicle would offer. However, automatic transmission would be applied for smooth variation and transmission of torque and power on varied road conditions. The distance that can be covered by the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Electric version is expected to be 90 km per full charge. Naturally the overall distance coverage would be dependent on the kerb weight, changing system, and on the battery maintenance. Roughly, a mileage of 60 to 80 km per full charge can be expected. However, No information is available for the battery and electric motor of this new Maruti WagonR EV .
It is expected that the new car has split headlamps as opposed to a single cluster headlamp, this feature adds a modern touch to the car. LED DRLs and projector headlamps can also be expected in the new car. A new alloy wheel design will also be present. Maruti may also add strong straight lines to the car to make it look sportier. The front bumper and grille design will also be different to add a fresh new touch.
The interiors are apparently rumored to be just like the third generation WagonR with a large touchscreen infotainment system on the center console. All modern features like wireless Android Auto and Apple car play will be provided in the car. The company might add connected car tech features for the EVs used as personal vehicles. The Center armrest and adjustable headrest will be an important addition to the taxi market. A new dual-tone interior design can also be expected. A push start/stop button can be expected in the higher-spec variants of the car.
Nonetheless, the electric version of Maruti’s first car will have highly upgraded features and better-quality dynamics. Better space capacity along with premium entertainment features and enhanced comfort.
