In India, there are six electric cars are available for sale. These cars need charging stations as they have batteries. There are 250 public charging stations that are operating in India. From them, there are 112 charging stations are there in Bengaluru Karnataka. The government has taken this decision to encourage citizens to switch over from fuel-based cars and use more electric vehicles. In the city, there are 12 direct charging points and 100 are alternate current points. It can charge scooters, autos as well as cars. The locations for these stations are in the parking lots of Bescom offices, traffic transit management centers (TTMC) buildings, Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA) complexes, KSRTC terminals on the Mysuru Road and Peenya terminals, city civic ward offices, RTO offices, and KIADB office at Jigani. These stations are cheaper than petrol or types of diesel.
You have to pay some cost for charging your vehicle. If the charging station is for the Level 2 public then it can be used at no cost, while others charge a fee. By using a credit card, or via an account with a charging network like ChargePoint you need to pay. The cost to charge an EV differs from provider to provider and from state to state. The state transport and police departments are extending support to promote EVs in the city and across the state for the multiple advantages they have in driving around the city at 60km per hour.
