Xiaomis debut in electric cars:Unveiling the future with SU7 Sedan
Xiaomi, a popular smartphone manufacturer, has unveiled its first electric vehicle SU7 sedan in China. Actual manufacturing will be done by Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co. (BAIC), a state-owned enterprise in China.The electric sedan will be retailed under the company’s popular smartphone brand Mi.
Production and launch
Mass production of Xiaomi SU7 will start in December 2023.Deliveries will begin in December 2024 in China.Global availability is still not confirmed.
Specifications and features
Xiaomi SU7 is expected to be a C class sedan.
The SU7 is powered by a single motor from United Automotive Electronic Systems (UAES), delivering a peak power of 220kW (295hp). It uses lithium iron phosphate (LPT) batteries supplied by FinDreams, a subsidiary of BYD. The car also offers optional LiDAR technology for driver assistance and autonomous features.The SU7 Pro and SU7 Max variants are powered by dual motors ,delivering 220kW (295hp) and 275kW (386hp) respectively. Xiaomi showcased two versions of SU7-with Lidar and without Lidar.The Lidar component is positioned behind the front windshield. Lidar technology helps the vehicle sense and understand its surroundings. The technology uses laser pulses to create 3D mappings of its environment, including objects like buildings, roads, and other vehicles. This information is then combined with other data to ensure safe navigation.There will be two powertrain options -RWD,AWD.SU7 will come in three variants SU7,SU7 Pro,SU7 Max.
Design
The SU7 boasts a sleek and modern design with a fastback profile, reminiscent of the Tesla Model 3.The Xiaomi SU7 measures 4,997mm in length, 1.963mm in width, and 1,455mm in height.118″ wheelbase ,faux-hatch trunk, thin headlights and a sloped bonnet for added elegance.SU7 EV exhibits wider wheel arches and is fitted with a five-spoke alloy wheel featuring yellow brake calipers.small side-view mirrors.The SU7 weighs 1,980kg, whereas the Pro and Max variants weigh 2,205 kg.Overall sporty ambience,Michelin PSEV tires, and a three-section electric rear wing, ensuring impressive wind resistance and handling performance.
The rear aesthetic is sportier because of the integrated ducktail spoiler on the boot lid and a faux diffuser in the lower bumper. The other prominent highlight is a pair of slim wraparound LED tail lights connected by a slim light bar.
Connectivity
Xiaomi SU7 will use the new operating system Hyper OS.Manufacturer has announced this OS for their smartphones a month back.So there is possibility that Xiaomi smartphones will interact with SU7.
Additional Features
The SU7 has a range of up to 600 kilometers (373 miles) on a single charge.
It supports fast charging, with the ability to charge from 0 to 80% in just 30 minutes.
The SU7 comes with a variety of safety features, including lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, and automatic emergency braking.
