Kazam EV's journey began with a common vision for the future of electric transportation in India. We started as an idea in 2020 and have quickly become a major participant in the electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure sector. Kazam EV was founded by Akshay Shekhar and Vaibhav Tyagi based on their common enthusiasm for sustainability and innovation, to make EV charging accessible and affordable to everybody.
Akshay, an experienced entrepreneur and growth strategist, contributed knowledge in product development and operations. Vaibhav's background in solar energy, IoT, and SaaS-based product management helped shape Kazam's technological skills. They quote, “From the start, our mission was clear: to transform the EV charging experience in India and beyond.” In 2021, Paras Shah brought his visionary leadership to Kazam as Chief Operating Officer, channelling over seven years of expertise in finance and business transformation to elevate operations, scale processes, and steer the company toward groundbreaking growth and innovation. Together, this dynamic trio of leaders continues to drive Kazam EV's vision forward, ensuring its position as an industry leader in the EV infrastructure space.
Key Milestones: Transforming the EV Charging Landscape
The Early Years: Establishing a Foundation
In April 2021, Kazam installed its first charging station in JP Nagar, Bengaluru. This milestone, marked the beginning of an ambitious vision to create a vast and interconnected network of EV chargers across India. In April 2021, Kazam marked its first major milestone by installing its first charging station, and by July, secured a pivotal contract with Delhi DISCOMs to deploy over 30,000 subsidized charging stations. This achievement was pivotal in establishing the company's credibility and highlighting its role in shaping India’s EV ecosystem.
A Rising Star: Key Partnerships and Funding
In May 2021, Kazam secured $1 million in seed funding, a move that empowered the company to expand its network of charging stations across five states. This funding also facilitated product development, marketing efforts, and operational scaling to meet the demands of India’s rapidly growing EV market.
Fast forward to 2022, we achieved 1,000 chargers in India (April 2022). Kazam was recognized as one of India’s top EV startups by Inch42 Media and YourStory, marking a significant milestone in the company’s growth. Throughout this period, Kazam continued to build strong partnerships with key industry players like BSES Rajdhani and Tata Power DDL, which further solidified the company’s position in the market.
Expanding Horizons: National and Global Reach
By February 2024, Kazam had installed over 10,000 chargers, expanding its footprint to more than 1,000 cities across India. This growth was fueled by collaborations with top-tier e-commerce brands like BigBasket, Ather, and MGL EV, while also forging partnerships with OEMs such as Bajaj and TVS. Internationally, Kazam’s presence spread across 16 countries, including North America, Southeast Asia, and the MENA region, solidifying its position as a global leader in EV infrastructure.
In 2024, Kazam presented its innovative charging solutions to the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo, an event showcasing India’s advancements in E-mobility. This momentous occasion, coupled with significant funding of $8 million in Series A3, further propelled Kazam’s ambition to enhance its technology, expand its reach, and foster collaborations with global players.
Achieving Financial Milestones and Energy Impact
Kazam’s financial performance over the past four years reflects its growing influence in the EV space. This remarkable growth underscores the trust our clients and partners have placed in us, propelling us toward a future of continued success. In FY24, March marked a milestone as our highest-grossing month. And, every month in FY25 has surpassed last year’s peak, with the highest revenue recorded so far at ₹36.7Mn i.e. twice the previous high.
Our impact on energy consumption is equally notable. By 2025, our total energy consumption reached an impressive 13.2 GWh, with home installations contributing 3 GWh. This amount of energy is enough to power approximately 1 lakh households. This growth in energy consumption highlights our commitment to sustainable, green energy solutions and our role in driving the adoption of EVs.

Kazam’s dedication to innovation is evident in the evolution of both its hardware and software offerings. The company’s range of AC and DC chargers ensures safe and reliable charging at homes, communities, and public locations, contributing to the growth of EV infrastructure in India. In 2021, Kazam launched its mobile app for seamless user experience, followed by the introduction of the Charging Management System (CMS) to streamline operations. In 2023, the company unveiled the Open Charging Alliance (OCA) software, which promotes interoperability across different charging networks, ensuring greater compatibility in the EV ecosystem.
The Energy Management System (EMS) launch in 2024 further cements Kazam’s role as a technology leader. The EMS allows fleet operators to manage their energy consumption efficiently, reducing costs and improving operational efficiency, marking another key step toward the company’s vision of creating a fully integrated e-mobility ecosystem.

By December of the same year, Kazam achieved a significant milestone by winning a tender from Delhi DISCOMs, securing the installation of 30,000 subsidized charging stations across the region. This was followed by multiple recognitions in 2022, including being honoured by Inc42 Media and YourStory Media as one of the top electric vehicle startups driving sustainability. Additionally, Kazam won the prestigious Uber Green Mobility Award and excelled in the EV Infrastructure Management Track at ElectronVibe 2022, cementing its reputation as a forward-thinking player in the EV industry.
Kazam's commitment to innovation and excellence continued to garner recognition in the following years. In 2023, the company raised $3.6 million in funding to expand its charging network, while also being named a top winner at FutureTech 2023, competing against 20 startups in the Asia Pacific. The company’s global presence expanded further in early 2024, with its participation in the Bharat Mobility Global Expo, where Kazam showcased its solutions to Prime Minister Modi. This year also marked the successful completion of 10,000 chargers across India and the securing of an $8 million Series A3 funding round, driving further technological advancements. In November 2024, Kazam achieved ARAI certification for its 7.4 kW EVSE charger, solidifying its position at the forefront of the EV charging industry. These accomplishments highlight Kazam's unwavering commitment to revolutionizing electric mobility and its growing impact both in India and globally.

Built on the Beckn Protocol, UEI enables chargers to connect across networks, just like UPI transformed payments. With Leo, our platform for enabling UEI-ready apps, finding and paying for EV charging is now simpler than ever. Additionally, our integration with Google Maps has empowered EV drivers to locate Kazam chargers effortlessly, view real-time availability, and plan routes with optimized charging stops. Our impact goes beyond numbers: we electrify 5.2 GWh per month, comparable to powering 100 villages, and eliminate 5,701 tons of CO2 monthly, akin to planting trees across 1,000 acres. With a dedicated team of 200 employees and the trust of 100,000 driver consumers, Kazam continues to redefine the EV charging landscape. This milestone is a testament to the relentless efforts of all Kazamers.
