The Future of Charging Management Software: Interoperable, Intelligent, and User-Centric

The EV charging networks of the future will be a mix of different charging stations and technology. The future of EV Charging will be automated and simplified. The EV charging experience will be much better in the future. We can say that charging will be almost non-detectable. It will be available everywhere and run by intelligent EV charging software that adapts to every situation. In this article we will focus on the future of charging management software.

What is charging management software

Charging Management Software (CMS) is used by fleet operators, charging operators, and others, to monitor and optimise electric vehicle charging operations. It is important for the CMS to be reliable, scalable, and easy to connect to existing systems.By directly connecting to EV chargers, a CMS is able to not only keep track of charging activities but also manage the network’s power consumption. The CMS will enable user-facing applications that will assist end-users in locating nearby charging stations, reserving a charging space, and paying. Conveniently, CMS interacts with the electric vehicle charging station to manage user permission, invoicing, and charging rates.CMS will benefit operators of charging stations by keeping track of consumption and transactions, as well as provides a digital connection.

EV charging in future

Charge Point operators will monitor different events at charging stations and collect all user data.

Advanced analytics, backed with Artificial intelligence (AI), will use this data and combine it with other data like, for example, demographics, EV sales data, traffic data, and more. In the next step, the analysts will identify charging patterns and other aspects of user behavior based on different parameters such as geographic areas, time of day, season. This will predict future demand for EV Charging in different areas.Another mobile EV Charging unit is charging robots placed where fixed stations aren’t practical. Also autonomous charging is also future charging technology that will happen on roads equipped with wireless charging technology so that you will charge while driving. It’s an expensive technology but something that we will see as a way of EV charging in the future.

How AI and machine learning algorithms will benefit EV charging in Future

AI will play a major role in the rapid growth, efficiency, safety, and reliability of EV charging networks over the next few years.

AI can predict user charging behaviour-Electric vehicle owners have unique charging patterns and preferences, and AI can predict them using a machine learning algorithm, allowing personalised charging recommendations and incentives.

Optimise charging schedule and set dynamic pricing-AI can analyse real-time power system conditions using advanced algorithms to identify the most efficient charging schedules,Also by analysing real-time power system conditions, AI can determine the most cost-effective times to charge and adjust the pricing accordingly.

Emerging technologies and standards that can enable interoperable charging management software

Interoperability, in the most universal terms, is the open communication and exchange of data between and among devices and/or software systems. The widely implemented Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) is an example of an application protocol that enables communication between a charging station via connectivity and any network operation or back-end.standard ISO 15118 will provide a bi-directional digital communication standard based on the internet protocol.ISO 15118 comes with a Plug and Charge facility providing an identification and authorization mode. This mechanism allows EV drivers to plug their vehicle into smart charging stations without further authorization.ISO 15118, in combination with OCPP 2.0.1, enables an EV to send its state of charge to the charging point. The charge point then forwards this information to the back-end. Accordingly, the exactness of the data allows Smart Charging functionality to plan and charge events accurately.

Kazam CMS

Kazam CMS Charging Station Management System is software to configure, monitor, and control multiple charging stations and charging of electric vehicles in an intelligent way. CMS allows the customer to set up their charging network without any software development hassle. The users will be able to deploy a wide range of pre-tested charging stations running on both OCPP and Kazam protocol.Additionally, it monitors all charging station networks from a single dashboard, allowing you to establish differential prices, manage users, and create data. Additionally, you can now obtain a customised mobile application for both Android and iOS. To know more read - Kazam CMS
