The best-performing EVs of 2022: Year-End Recap
Year after year, the number of electric vehicles on our roads is increasing rapidly. From a modest autonomy ten years ago, they now offer capacities similar to those of petrol engines in terms of distances traveled between 2 full tanks… or rather between 2 charges in this case. The best-performing cars of the year 2022 with electric models in the sedan, SUV, scooter, and even full-size pickup categories are given below! Read on to learn more!
Volvo XC40 Recharge 2022
The muscular and refined silhouette of this electric SUV from Volvo will certainly please buyers! Volvo's first all-electric SUV, the 2022 Volvo XC40 Recharge boasts a very interesting 402 horsepower and is equipped with high-performance all-wheel drive.
Furthermore, the XC40 Recharge is able to travel up to 359 kilometers, and it will only take you 33 minutes to recover around 80% of the battery. You will also appreciate its elegant interior and numerous onboard technologies, including the best navigation system in its category.
Mercedes-Benz EQS
Foreshadowed by the Vision EQS concept presented in September 2019 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the Mercedes EQS is a large sedan that looks like a limousine. On the outside, it inherits the characteristic elements of the rest of the EQ range with a specific light signature and a full grille. 5.22 m long, the Mercedes EQS is 1.93 m wide, 1.51 m for an impressive wheelbase of 3.21 m. In the trunk, the capacity reaches 610 liters and 1,770 liters once the rear seat is folded down.
The AMG sports version, unveiled at the start of the 2021 school year, will very broadly take up the design of the electric sedan. Very slight additions of aerodynamic parts, as well as special rims, will differentiate the two. Inside, Mercedes' large electric sedan will be the first to receive HyperScreen technology characterized by a giant 56-inch (141 cm) screen divided into three segments. Measuring 12.3 inches alone, the instrument cluster will be complemented by a 17.7-inch center screen and a 12.3-inch passenger screen. The AMG version sports a slightly different interior, with specific colors and materials.
90 kWh or 107.8 kWh… the Mercedes EQS will be available in two battery configurations. In terms of autonomy, the manufacturer promises up to 780 km in the WLTP cycle for the 450+ version and 676 km for the 580 4Matic version. Powered by a 400-volt system, Mercedes' electric car will offer up to 200 kW of DC power via the Combo standard. In alternating current (AC), the onboard charger of the EQS will be able to support up to 11 kW in series and 22 kW in option. On the AMG EQS side, the 107.9 kWh payload battery should allow you to cover up to 580 km on a single charge. A figure that could go down to 526 km in the fastest versions.
Hero Vida
The new Hero Vida V1 electric scooter is equipped with a 7.0-inch TFT touchscreen instrument panel with various advanced features like Bluetooth, an SOS alert button, 4G, turn-by-turn navigation, and WiFi connectivity. It also has multiple driving modes, cruise control, and more. Hero MotoCorp gives a 5-year or 50,000 km warranty on the electric scooter and a 3-year or 30,000 km warranty on the Vida V1 electric scooter battery. The V1 Plus is equipped with a smaller 3.44 kWh battery pack as compared to the V1 pro. The Vida V1 Plus has an Indian Driving Range (IDC) of 143 km and the fast charge time remains the same for both versions, going from zero to 80% in less than 65 minutes while home charging can take up to 5 hours to charge it from 0 to 80%. The Plus version can go from 0-40 km/h in 3.4 seconds. In general, both electric scooters have been equipped with the same motor, which produces 6 kW of main power.
The company equips the Vida V1 Pro with a 3.94 kWh battery pack. The V1 Pro offers an IDC range of 165 km. It offers a charging time of 65 minutes to charge the battery from 0% to 80% while home charging can take up to 6 hours to charge it from 0 to 80%. Vida has also adjusted the electric motor differently in the two versions. The Pro reaches 40 km/h in 3.2 seconds, 0.1 seconds faster than the Ather 450X. The Vida V1 Pro is available at Rs 1.59 lakhs (including FAME II grants, excluding government grants). The Vida V1 Pro is available in four colors including Matte White, Matte Sport Red, Glossy Black, and Matte Abracs Orange.
Hyundai Ioniq 5
New Age electrification makes the Hyundai Ioniq 5 a stunning member of a line of fast-charging SUVs. The interior of the Ioniq 5, with fewer frills than the Hyundai 45 concept, has an advanced interior with a digital instrument panel and many environmentally friendly materials. An augmented reality display that can put navigation instructions on the windshield is just a nice feature. It price range is expected to start from Rs.45 lakhs to Rs.55 lakhs.
This car uses its full power package with a very flat floor for maximum passenger and load space. The front seats can also be folded down and have footrests so you can relax while charging your Ioniq. With a longer wheelbase than the 3-row Hyundai Palisade, have plenty of space for front and rear passengers. There's plenty of storage space in the large center console, while the Limited trim slides back and forth between the front seats.
The Ioniq 5 has a fully electric powertrain that offers several functions. The standard range battery is mated to a single 168-horsepower rear electric motor. With a long-range battery, the rear-wheel drive setup produces 225 horsepower and 258 pound-ft of torque, which Hyundai says will take the Ioniq from 5 to 60 mph in 7.4 seconds. The four-wheel drive version is more powerful, 320 horsepower, 446 pound-ft, and even faster.
Tesla Model Y
Tesla's fourth electric car, the Tesla Model Y is a 100% electric SUV. Aesthetically very close to the Model 3 with which it shares the platform, the Tesla Model Y is distinguished by its more imposing size. It is 4.78 m long, 1.85 m wide and 1.60 m high. Fitted with a hatchback trunk, it offers a loading volume of more than 2,000 liters once the rear bench seat has been folded down. It is also capable of towing up to 1,600 kilos.
The interior of the Model Y is substantially identical to that of Model 3. Very refined, the dashboard incorporates a large touch screen. Placed in a horizontal position, it gives access to all of the car's functions and various settings. It also incorporates the instrumentation on the left side.
While they will be able to choose from different types of packs, users will not be able to view the energy capacity of the battery. On the internet, a capacity of 79 kWh is mentioned.
Preferring to communicate on autonomy values, Tesla announces a range of up to 533 kilometers for the long-range version of the Model Y and 514 km for the Performance version. In the standard configuration, less generous in batteries, the autonomy drops to 368 kilometers which are already more than enough to cover most journeys.
Unsurprisingly, the Model Y inherits the same charging characteristics as the Tesla Model 3. Compatible with V3 superchargers, the Californian SUV accepts up to 250 kW of charging power. For home charging, the Model Y has an 11 kW charger.
