Tata Power's vision of sustainability
As per a recent report released by KPMG, India will have 50 million electric vehicles by 2030. One of the main reasons behind this EV infrastructure expansion is Tata Power's aim for an electric vehicle-powered India. Tata Power has already installed 2,200 charging stations in more than 200 cities across India and more than 1,400 chargers are in the pipeline in various stages of installation, Tata Power has helped alleviate the concerns of EV owners in establishing EV charging infrastructure across India. This expansion is happening under Tata Power's broader sustainability vision, which launched 'Sustainability is Attainable' in partnership with News18 Network. This is an initiative to raise public awareness of green technology, clean energy, and sustainable lifestyles. An initiative to accelerate India's transition to green energy and motivates the general public to accept environmentally friendly products and solutions.
Tata Power’s Roadmap for EV charging infrastructure
Tata Power set up an ambitious goal of India's green transition with its EV charging infrastructure installation across India. This will expand the EV grid by more than 2,400 chargers to its existing network of 21,000 home chargers and 240 bus chargers. Tata Power also enables a smooth transition from traditional vehicles to green vehicles, from building multiple charging stations for fleet operators to working with major automotive OEMs such as Tata Motors, MG Motors, and Hyundai. To make this possible, they are building partnerships across the industry and also partnering with leading real estate developers to provide electric vehicle charging solutions for all residential and commercial projects they undertake.
Tata Power's EZ Charge app designed for EV users helps them to find EV charging stations, charge, and pay online through various payment modes. It connects and monitors your entire EV charging network centrally. Through the Tata Power Skill Development Institute, Tata Power also provides training to 3,000 young people annually so that they can work in the sustainable energy sector. Dr. Nilesh Kane, Distribution Chief at Tata Power Delhi Distribution believes that nothing drives adoption more than realizing value. He said that the initial cost of electric vehicles is high as compared to traditional vehicles, but the cost per kilometer of driving an EV is much more affordable than petrol and diesel vehicles. For example, 10-15 rupees per kilometer for petrol and diesel vehicles and only 1-3 rupees per kilometer for electric vehicles.
