Ola Electric Bike is expected to launch soon: Bhavish Aggarwal
Ola Electric has been a hot topic in the electric vehicle market since Ola launched its two excellent scooters: the S1 and S1 Pro. Recently, Ola announced its new electric variant on Diwali: Ola S1 Air.
When Ola started its new segment Ola Electric back in 2019, it was intended as a side project, it was considered an experiment to test the capabilities of the electric vehicle market in India. But after three years, Ola Electric became a big name and one of the tough competitors in the EV market. In addition to releasing its two anticipated electric scooters last year, the company has expanded into batteries and plans to launch an electric bike soon.
Ola already set a benchmark by entering the EV segment of India by launching its most anticipated e-scooter. Ola has been working hard to make scooters available to the pre-bookers across the country. Recently, the company introduced the 'Navratri Special Discount Offer' on this electric scooter. Under this offer, the company offers a total discount of Rs 10,000 on the scooter.
Bhavish Aggarwal Tweet about Electric Bike
Recently, the CEO of Ola Electric, Bhavish Aggarwal took to Twitter to tweet an update about his plans that the company will be working to launch its new electric Ola bikes near future. Ola has already announced the plans for its new electric bike on Diwali, with more details expected to be unveiled by Holi, next year. But a new tweet from the CEO gives an interesting turn in the details of the new electric bike. This mass production is possible because of the large factory installation of Ola Electric.
When the Ola S1 Air launched, the company announced that this new launch will be introduced in the large, mid-range, and premium motorcycle segments. In a tweet, Bhavish Aggarwal asked Twitter users what type of motorcycle they like. The category ‘Sports Bike' got the highest vote followed by Cruiser, Adventure, and Cafe Racer.
Ola Electric is already a popular name because of its anticipated scooters. Ola Electric recently teased the features of its first electric sedan, which is in development and could go on sale next year. However, the tweet clearly indicated the ambition of capturing the electric bike market with the new launch, with Ola Electric possibly going into bus production, battery production, and other electric vehicles.
Bhavish Aggarwal said at an event, “I saw a market for motorcycles between Rs 80,000 and Rs 100,000. EVs don't need too much cross-concentration. There is more room to introduce new areas of technology in the bike segment and we will announce them at the end of next year."
Bhavish Aggarwal also said that the adoption rate for e-scooters has increased by 40% in cities like Delhi, Bangalore, and Pune. The S1 Air is the lightest S1 scooter at 99 kg. The S1 Air is equipped with a 2.5 kWh battery and a wheel motor that delivers a peak power of 4.5 kW. In terms of performance, it accelerates from 0 to 40 km/h in just 4.3 seconds and from 0 to 60 km/h in just 9.8 seconds.
It offers a top speed of 85 km/h in sport mode and a range of 101 km in eco mode on a single charge. It takes 4 hours and 30 minutes for the S1 Air to complete the charging. However, the same device has a 7-inch touchscreen, multiple display settings, image storage, music playback capabilities, GPS and Bluetooth.
