MG ZS Review hands-on by Kazam EV: Speed, Tech, Design, Price, and more
The MG ZS compact crossover alone is responsible for the revival of MG in China. But if it is offered with thermal engines there, with us it has only been available in electric since it arrived in 2020 and is called ZS EV for "electric vehicle". Yet imported for only two years, it benefits from a major restyling in early 2022... like the Chinese model 2 years earlier. In addition to fairly profound changes at the stylistic level, the technical part evolves quite significantly with 2 electric motorizations against only 1 on the pre-restyling model.
Kazam EV comes up with another EV review, the MG ZS EV after Tata Tigor EV with all specifications, autonomy, and outlook, designs.
The look and dimensions of the MG ZS EV electric SUV
If we talk about its exterior, the wiper is automatic with LED lights and the MG logo on the front panel. It has a seating capacity of five people.
The grille is now completely closed Kona EV style, the headlights are more tapered, and the lower part of the shield has also been revised. The SUV benefits from a slightly more assertive style than before.
The profile, however, hardly changes and the alterations are minor at the rear with retouched signature lights and a different shield too. Inside, there is also something new with a revised center console, a larger central screen (10.1", compared to 8" previously), and better quality materials. The dimensions do not change. The cabin and trunk are still just as spacious despite the contained size. At 4.32 m long, it is only 2 cm longer than a Peugeot 2008.
The dimensions of the car are 4.32mx1.81mx1.65m and the wheelbase is 2.58m.
The dashboard of the MG ZS EV electric SUV was deeply redesigned during the restyling. Classic but quality presentation, questionable ergonomics.
The electric engines of the MG ZS EV electric SUV
The restyling brought quite a few changes at the technical level. There are now two versions. The first so-called standard autonomy that already displays greater power (177 hp against 143 hp previously) and better...autonomy than the old MG ZS EV (320 km against 263 km for the pre-restyling model).
This is due to a battery with a higher capacity: 50.3 kWh against 44.5 kWh for the previous ZS EV.
But there is also a version with extended autonomy which, thanks to its 70 kWh battery (it's more than a Kona EV: 64 kWh), benefits from a better range, in all cases on paper, with 440 km announced. Curiously, this variant is a little less powerful than the entry-level with "only" 156 hp. But, just as curiously, the performance would be the same, correct, with a maximum speed of 175 km / h (high for an electric model) and a 0 to 100 km / h performed in 8.6 s in both cases.
