Lamborghini announces their future Electric Car
After Ferrari's announcement, we all knew that Lamborghini would sooner or later make a statement that would change its history forever. This day finally arrived on May 18, 2021, when the manufacturer presented its plan for the future Electric Car.
Lamborghini has announced a three-phase electrification plan for 2030. The brand will make a gradual transition from thermal to electric. With the transformation of the automotive market and inevitable electrification, all manufacturers have to adapt to e-mobility. That's why Lamborghini has unveiled a three-phase plan for the evolution of its products and its infrastructures.
Lamborghini will launch its first all-electric model in the second half of this decade. However, no details have been revealed yet about the car, but the illustration of a draped car published as a "teaser" suggests certain features.
Few features may include a belt line receding upwards and a marked angle between the windshield and the roof, elements that underline the aesthetic kinship of the car with the Urus. It shouldn't be an SUV, however, or a supercar.
It is a GT that seems to be emerging, which would confirm the rumors announcing for more than two years a 2 + 2 electric model, or even a sedan, at Lamborghini. But this remains to be confirmed. What is official till now is that it will be a fourth model for the brand's normal range, which currently only has three.
Lamborghini: Electrification in three phases
Lamborghini, in 2021, is likely to announce two new models similar to the Aventador. Indeed, the manufacturer will launch two new cars powered by the old V12 engine. Then, in the continuity of its Sian, the manufacturer will launch various hybrid vehicles in 2023.
Lamborghini promises that in the following year (in 2024), the entire fleet of the manufacturer will benefit from a hybrid engine. The Aventador, Urus, and other Huracans will therefore give in to the call for electrification.
Finally, Lamborghini confirms that this electrification plan will materialize with the launch, between 2025 and 2030, of a brand new 100% electric model. It will be the first all-electric model developed by the manufacturer of Sant'Agata Bolognese.
A fully electrified range from 2024
Before going electric, Lamborghini will electrify its entire range. It will be completed by the end of 2024. Nothing much has been revealed yet except that the first of them will be launched in 2023. We can expect to see the electrified replacements for the Aventador, Huracan, and a plug-in hybrid Urus arrive at a steady pace.
To compensate for the weight of the electrical systems of these future vehicles, Lamborghini always promises more carbon fiber in its construction. Also in the development of new technologies currently. The Italian manufacturer wants to halve its CO2 emissions from the beginning of 2025 and announces that it will invest 1.5 billion euros over four years in its electrification strategy.
But between 2021 and 2022, the brand intends to say goodbye to 100% thermal with a few fireworks by launching several advanced and better models. Two Lamborghini V12s are already in line for this year.
