I live in a small town. Should I buy a Tata Nexon EV or MG ZS EV in 2022? 

Increasing environmental problems, soaring prices at the pump, parking difficulties: in big or small towns, using the car becomes complicated. Some vehicles do better than others, thanks to motorization and a more suitable size. If you live in a small town, this question often arises in your mind: Should I buy an electric car or scooter? Is buying an electric car worth it? Should I buy a compact or an SUV?

The boot space of the Tata Nexon EV Max 2022 is 350L whereas the boot space in MGZS EV is 470L which is capable to carry the luggage of five people.

The ground clearance of the Nexon EV Max is 205 mm. The base model 2022 Nexon EV Max has 215/60 R16 wheels, while the top model has 215/60 R16 wheels. The ground clearance of the MGZS EV is 161 to 177 mm.

In terms of specification…

The Tata Nexon EV Max provides you with options in terms of battery: It has two battery motor configurations.

  1. A 40.5 kWh battery with 7.2 kW AC charging and front-wheel drive produces 143 horsepower and a torque of 250 Nm. This car is equipped with an electric motor and has a range of 437 km when it is fully charged.
  2. A 40.5 kWh battery with 3.3 kW AC charging and front-wheel drive produces 143 horsepower and a torque of 250 Nm. The design has one electric motor and a mileage of 437 km on a full charger.

The 2022 MG ZS is equipped with a 50.3 kWh 384 V lithium-ion battery. With a power of 173.83bhp and 280 Nm of torque, the standard MG ZSEV accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.5 seconds. The standard MG ZS EV model provides you with a range of 461 km with a maximum seating capacity of 5 people.

In terms of features…

Tata's most anticipated car packs a lot of features. It is equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Its system is synced up with an 8-speaker, 100W Harman Music System as found in most modern Tata vehicles. Other premium features include a power tailgate release, dual drive modes Drive and Sport, and rain-sensing wipers for cleaning the glass that will help in better visibility while driving. The headlights with auto projector, passive entry key setting, ACE rear door, 7-inch TFT display in instrument console, mirrored media, and information about navigation.

MGZSEV is also equipped with some advanced features however Nexon EV has some unique features which are missing in ZS, for example, the Nexon EV Max has ventilated front seats However MGZS EV only has a 6-way adjustable power driver seat. In terms of safety, both the e-cars are equipped with electronic parking brakes with automatic clutch, descent control through hill hold assists, four-wheel disc brakes, and a park function. But the MG is also equipped with features like a rear driver assistance system that offers assistance to find blind spots, rear cross-traffic alert, lane change guidance, and more. The Nexon EV Max only comes standard with rear parking aid with a camera and an electronic stability program with iVBAC.

The MG ZS EV features a panoramic sunroof, 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, a bigger infotainment screen of 10.1 inches, PM2.5 filters, and more. It has more USB ports with a count of 5 as compared to Nexon EV with only 4 USB ports.

The ex-showroom prices of Nexon EV variants are as follows:

  • XZ+ with Slow charger: Rs. 17.74 lakhs
  • XZ+ with Fast charger: Rs. 18.24 lakhs
  • XZ+ Lux with slow charger: Rs. 18.74 lakhs
  • XZ+ Lux with fast charger: Rs. 19.24 lakhs

The ex-showroom prices of MGZS EV variants are as follows:

  • Excite: Rs. 22 lakhs
  • Exclusive: Rs. 25.88 lakhs
