How many public electric vehicle charge points are there in India? 

As per the reports published in Mar 2023, there are 2.17 million electric vehicles (EVs) registered in India. Uttar Pradesh tops the list with more than 465,000 electric vehicle registrations alone in the state, second on the list was Maharashtra with a total registered vehicle with a whopping count of 226,000, Delhi came in third with 203,000 EV registrations in the capital and Bangalore came in fourth with 183,000 registered electric vehicles according to data collected on March 6.

As per the data collected, Delhi tops the list with the largest number of public charging stations (PCS) in India with a count of 1,845. Followed by Karnataka which is home to 704 charging stations and a third on the list is Maharashtra with a count of 660 electric vehicle charging stations in the state.

As per the e-Amrit portal launched by the government, There are 934 public charging stations (PCS) on the roads of India. We can see a gradual increase in this number as new technological advancements in electric vehicle charging stations are introduced day by day.

As per the reports, the FAME-II scheme has supported 882,000 electric vehicles to date. Maharashtra topped the list with over 155,000 EV subsidies approved, followed by Karnataka with over 129,000 EV subsidies.

The department also approved 6,315 electric buses in 65 states and local governments. In addition, there are 1,576 charging stations on 9 expressways and 16 highways approved by the government under the central government scheme.

About 280,000 electric vehicles have been subsidized under the FAME-I program at an amount of 895 crore rupees and 425 electric buses have been operated under the scheme. The advanced chemical elements (ACC) and production promotion (PLI) programs have been approved for the production of cars and auto parts to accelerate the growth of local production and highlighted the steps taken to introduce electric vehicles in the country. It will lead to reduced goods and services tax on electric vehicles and electric vehicle chargers and exempt electric vehicles from licensing formalities.
