1. Details of upcoming Mahindra Electric SUVs revealed ahead of launch.

Mahindra has revealed a few details about its upcoming EVs: BE 6e SUV & XEV 9e coupe SUV. The new electric SUVs will debut on November 26 at the upcoming ‘Unlimit India’ event in Chennai.

Both the upcoming SUVs are based on Mahindra’s ‘Born Electric’ INGLO platform. This platform can accommodate front-wheel-drive (FWD) & all-wheel-drive (AWD) configurations. Both cars will come with two LFP battery options: 59 kWh & 79 kWh. BYD will supply its 'Blade' batteries to Mahindra for these cars. Mahindra also revealed that both cars will be compatible with 175 kW DC fast charging, which will allow them to be charged from 20-80% in just 20 minutes! Both EVs will come with features like multi-zone AC, 6 airbags (as standard), 360-degree camera setup, 2-spoke steering wheel with illuminated logo & panoramic sunroof.

The Mahindra XEV 9e is expected to be priced between Rs 35-40 lakhs & the BE 6e between Rs 20-25 lakhs.

 2. Ather introduces long-term battery assurance program.

Ather Energy has introduced ‘Eight70’ warranty, a long-term battery health assurance program for the Ather 450 series & Rizta electric scooters. This program is being offered in partnership with Reliance General Insurance, and aims at addressing the biggest concern of EV buyers: battery life & replacement cost. The Eight70 warranty features a cover of 8 years, along with assurance of a minimum of 70% battery health throughout this period.

The battery assurance program serves as a 3 year add-on to Ather’s existing 5 year warranty, and is priced at Rs 5000.

 3. Maruti Suzuki & Hyundai to welcome their electric cars at Bharat Mobility Global Expo in January 2025.

Two of India’s biggest carmakers Maruti Suzuki & Hyundai are all-set to welcome their first electric cars at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in Delhi NCR. Suzuki recently showcased the ‘e Vitara’ at EICMA auto event in Italy. Hyundai is yet to showcase the much-awaited Creta EV. Both EVs will be showcased one final time at the Auto Expo in Delhi NCR in January 2025 before being launched around March 2025.

The e Vitara looks completely different from the ICE-powered Grand Vitara, whereas the upcoming Creta EV is expected to look identical to the Creta currently on sale in India.

4. ZELIO launches e-rickshaw named ‘Tanga’.

Haryana-based EV manufacturer ZELIO has launched an e-rickshaw named 'Tanga'. The launch took place at EV India Expo in Delhi.

Alongside Tanga, ZELIO also launched the upgraded version of its electric scooter ‘X-Men’.

5. Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 electric superbikes in unique rally.

Madras Sappers (Madras Engineer Group), a decorated group of the Indian Army, recently organized a unique motorcycle rally to promote electric mobility & sustainability. Ultraviolette Automotive teamed up with Madras Sappers, and provided its F77 Mach 2 electric superbikes for the rally. A total of 20 Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 electric motorcycles participated in the 2000km rally which were piloted by officers of the Madras Sappers. The rally began on November 16 from 4 different locations: Hyderabad, Kanyakumari, Belagavi & Thiruvananthapuram, and finished at Madras Engineering Group Centre (MEG Centre) in Bengaluru on November 21, which also marked the 244th Raising Day of the group. It also coincided with the 25th anniversary of India’s victory in the Kargil War.

The Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 is the 2nd generation of the F77 electric motorcycle. In terms of design, the Mach 2 is similar to its predecessor, but Ultraviolette has improved the performance of the motorcycle & its range. The F77 Mach 2 comes with a 10.3kWh battery which gives a range of 323km, making it suitable for longer journeys.
