1. Hyundai India installs ultra-fast charging stations on 2 major highways.
Hyundai India has installed ultra-fast EV charging stations at two highways: Delhi-Chandigarh highway & Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway. The charging stations have a 150 kW ultra-fast charger and a 60 kW DC fast-charger. These charging stations will be open for Hyundai customers as well as general public. These stations are open from 1st Feb 2023 and Hyundai India plans to set up 10 more within first half of 2023. Hyundai electric car owners can access the charging stations via the ‘myHyundai’ app and pre-book charging slots. Hyundai India has set up these EV charging stations in partnership with Charge Zone.
2. Oil and gas major ‘Shell’ opens café with EV charging points in Bengaluru.
Oil and gas major Shell has opened the country’s first ‘Shell Café’ in Bengaluru. Shell already has cafes in Europe & China and is now expanding into the US & Asia. More such cafes will come up in prime locations along highways. Shell gave a statement that the average charging time in the company’s global EV charging network is around 20 minutes and customers can spend this time in the café. Shell has also partnered with customized coworking space operator 'Table Space'. Table Space will provide Shell with the space for installing and enabling EV charging at premium locations operated by it.
3. Himachal Pradesh Transport Department goes all-electric.
Himachal Pradesh State Transport Department has become the first state transport department in India to completely switch over to electric vehicles. Its entire fleet of official vehicles is now electric. Himachal Pradesh’s capital Shimla will shortly see its very busy bus station with a full fleet of electric buses. The HP government is also planning to make a highway in the state a ‘Clean & Green’ corridor. The state is also setting-up an EV charging network in a phased manner for which 110 sites along the highways have been identified. Additionally, 700 government buildings have been selected to set up EV charging stations. Electric buses will also run on the Shimla-Rampur corridor.
4. Tech-driven mobility platform Yulu collaborates with auto component major Magna.
Micro-mobility electric two-wheeler platform 'Yulu' has formed a joint venture with Magna, a major global auto component company. The resulting JV has been named Yuma Energy. Yuma's new stations will cater to Yulu’s e-bike fleet and also target other OEMs. These stations will be a combination of 'swap & charge' points, as well as 'swap-only' kiosks which will be fed by a centralized battery charging hub.
5. EV rally organized in Hyderabad.
The Hyderabad E-Mobility Week kicked-off on 5th February with India’s largest electric vehicle rally named ‘Rall-E’. The rally signified Telangana’s progress in EV adoption and also promoted the message of sustainable mobility. The EV rally saw many electric vehicles throng the city roads. A stunt show was also organized. The rally saw participation from Citroen India, TVS Motors, Mahindra, MG Motors, Gravton Motors, Atum, Pure EV amongst others. Telugu actor Adivi Sesh attended the event. The Hyderabad E-Mobility Week will come to an end with the country’s 1st Formula E race on 10 & 11 February.
