1. Mahindra ties-up with Statiq for EV charging.

Gurgaon-based EV charging company ‘Statiq’ has tied-up with Mahindra to provide EV charging solutions. As part of the collaboration, Statiq will install & operate charging points for Mahindra and the two companies will focus on advanced e-mobility tech integration projects in the future. As of now, the primary aim of this tie-up is to provide EV users a reliable, accessible & affordable EV charging network across the country. This collaboration coincides with Mahindra launching their electric XUV400.

2. Tata Power and solar-powered EV charging.

India’s largest passenger EV manufacturer Tata Motors is in talks with group company Tata Power for providing charging solutions to EV customers who want to cut their dependence
on grid power and instead generate solar power at their own cost to charge their vehicles. Depending on the space available, the cost of installing a solar charging system can be around Rs.3-4 lakh for an electric car.

Tesla, the world’s largest electric car company, is credited for making EV solar charging popular.

Tata Power is one the country’s biggest solar power players and has been installing different types of EV charging stations across the country.

The company has generated a lot of interest from e-commerce players for the new electric LCV Ace. Tata Motors is keen on pushing rooftop solar charging which can be installed at the warehouses of these e-commerce companies. Demand for electric cars is seeing a consistent rise in India. The main source of charging these happens to be the grid. More than 60% of India’s electricity needs are met through thermal power. Tata Motors & Tata Power are trying to lower this dependence.

3. BYD opens showroom in Gurgaon.

BYD inaugurated its first passenger vehicle showroom in Gurugram (Haryana) and its 11th outlet in India. Spread across more than 2000 sqft, equipped with an advanced set-up of charging 100 EVs at any given point of time, the showroom has trained technicians, service centre, service equipment, customer lounge and a sprawling display floor.

4. Delhi gets 11 high-tech EV charging stations.

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal launched 11 high-tech EV charging stations across the capital city. Consumers will be charged at Rs.3 per unit. There are 73 charging points and 12 swapping stations at these 11 new charging stations. Locations of these charging stations: Indraprastha metro station parking, Subhash Nagar metro station parking, Vasant Vihar metro station, Kair Depot, Dwarka Mod metro station parking, Shadipur DTC Depot, Sarita Vihar metro station parking, Mohan Estate metro parking, Harkesh Nagar Okhla metro station parking, Hauz Khas metro station parking & parking area near Star Mall, Mayur Vihar.

5. Toshiba India and ‘EVage’ join hands.

The Indian arm of Japan’s Toshiba signed an agreement with Chandigarh-based 'EVage Automotive' to supply rechargeable lithium-ion cells which will power EVage’s electric commercial vehicles. Toshiba’s ‘SCIB’ cells will be incorporated in EVage’s battery pack. The two companies claim the battery pack with Toshiba’s cells will recharge fully in 20 minutes and will be able to handle such rapid charging for 20,000 cycles and is extremely tolerant to high temperatures.

EVage raised $28 million from US-based venture capital firm RedBlue Capital earlier this year. The company supplies electric commercial behicles to Amazon India and Delhivery. It is the first company to build an electric van in India from the ground-up and will now be the first to use Toshiba's SCiB cell technology.
