1. BluSmart partners with Tata Power to source solar power for EV charging.
EV cab service company BluSmart has signed a ‘power purchase agreement’ with Tata Power. As per the agreement, BluSmart will source green electricity for charging their cabs, from Tata Power’s 200 MW solar power plant in Rajasthan’s Bikaner. Post the agreement, BluSmart gave a statement: “While BluSmart operates an all-electric e-mobility ride-hailing fleet which contributes zero tailpipe emissions, this partnership with Tata Power will pave the path to fully decarbonise mobility at scale with 100% clean electricity.”
BluSmart has signed this agreement with Tata Power’s wholly-owned subsidiary Tata Power Trading Company Ltd (TPTCL).
2. Exicom to launch its IPO on February 27.
EV charger manufacturing company Exicom Tele-Systems will launch its IPO on February 27. The company is looking to sell 2.32 crore shares worth Rs 329 crore and another 70,42,200 shares of its promoter ‘NextWave Communications’ worth Rs 100 crore. In total, the company is looking to raise a total of Rs 429 crore. The stock will be listed on both BSE & NSE.
Funds from the IPO will be used for setting-up assembly lines at the company's upcoming manufacturing unit in Telangana, repayment & prepayment of certain borrowings, funding working capital needs and R&D.
3. Jio-BP to install 225 EV charging stations in Bengaluru.
Reliance BP Mobility (Jio-BP) has reportedly won a tender by Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) to install 225 public EV charging stations in the city. According to reports, 150 charging stations will be set-up in Bengaluru urban and 75 in Bengaluru rural. Land survey for the same is underway to finalise suitable spots, post which a 10 year lease agreement will be signed with the land-owning agency.
The EV charging stations will have a 7.5kW/10kW AC charger and a 60kW CCS-2 DC fast charger. The DC charger will have two charging guns to enable the charging of two EVs simultaneously.
4. Statiq opens EV charging station at a five-star hotel in Jaipur.
The DoubleTree by Hilton Jaipur Amer recently inaugurated an EV charging station on its property. The fast-charging station by Statiq is compatible with electric two-wheelers & four-wheelers. The station features two 60 kW DC fast-charging guns and a 22 kW AC charger. Using the DC charger, an electric car can be charged up to 80% in just 40 minutes.
This initiative is in line with Hilton’s ESG strategy of ‘Travel with Purpose’.
5. Tata Punch EV is the official vehicle for this season’s WPL.
The 2024 season of Women’s Premier League (WPL) has kicked-off. Tata is the title sponsor of the league and the recently-launched Punch EV has been made the official vehicle of the season.
Tata Punch EV is the fourth electric car from Tata Motors (after Nexon EV, Tigor EV and Tiago EV). It was launched in January 2024 and is priced at Rs 10.99 lakh.
Tata also sponsors the Indian Premier League (IPL) and last season the Tiago EV was made the official vehicle for the men’s league.
