1. Tata Power installs multiple EV charging stations.

Tata Power installed an EV charging station at the Golden Park Hotel & Resort hotel in West Bengal's Malda, taking its total number of charging stations across the state to 150. The EV charging station has two chargers of 30 kW & 7.4 kW capacities. The hotel is situated 5 km from Malda Railway Station, as a key landmark along the busy Kolkata-Siliguri highway (NH 34), which is the gateway to North-East India. Apart from the above, Tata Power has installed fast EV charging points at 4 other places on the Kolkata-Siliguri highway.

Tata Power has also installed EV fast-chargers along highways in Rajasthan. The company has set-up fast-chargers along the highways connecting major cities such as Jaipur, Ajmer, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Sri Ganganagar and Nagaur. Tata Power has also announced a partnership with Le Roi Hotels and Resorts. With this collaboration, the company aims to install EV charging stations across eight Le Roi properties, at Udaipur, Haridwar, Corbett, Jammu, Raipur, Digha and Tehri. The charging stations will feature one DC fast-charger and one AC charger each.

2. Two highly awaited electric cars spotted testing.

The upcoming Suzuki eVX electric SUV was spotted testing in Krakow (Poland). The test mule looked similar to the Grand Vitara but was slightly bigger in size. The eVX will be Maruti Suzuki’s 1st electric car in India. The company had showcased the eVX at the 2023 Auto Expo.

Mahindra’s upcoming electric SUV ‘XUV.e8’ was spotted testing on Indian roads. The XUV.e8 is based on XUV700. The car is based on the INGLO platform, which Mahindra has jointly developed with Volkswagen.

3. Updates on electric cab services in India.

Uber Green cabs are now available at Mumbai International Airport. Available on Terminal 2 of the airport, these electric cabs can be booked through the Uber app, via the Uber Green option. The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai is the first airport in India to get the Uber Green service.

BluSmart Mobility plans to increase its current fleet of 4500 electric cabs to 10,000 by the end of this year. At present, the Gurugram-based electric cab company has 4000 cabs in the Delhi-NCR region and 500 in Bengaluru. The company plans to have 8000 cabs in Delhi-NCR and 2000 in Bengaluru by the end of 2023.

BluSmart Mobility’s sister company ‘BluSmart Charge’ too plans to expand. It currently has 4300 EV chargers (fast & slow) in 25 hubs. Over the next four years, BluSmart Charge plans to invest Rs 800 crore to install 43,000 chargers among 250 hubs.

4. Kerala-based GO EC Autotech to set-up 1000 fast-charging stations across the country.

GO EC Autotech, based in Kochi (Kerala), has announced plans to install 1000 fast EV charging stations across India. The company plans to achieve this target by the end of the year. GO EC will invest around Rs 320 crore for this expansion. At present, the company operates 70 EV charging stations in Kerala. The company aims to strategically place the upcoming charging stations at national and state highways, state capitals and tier 2 & 3 cities. The company has also partnered with restaurants and malls.

5. Delhi to get 140 new public EV charging stations.

Delhi will get 140 new public charging points and 48 battery swapping kiosks in 53 spots across the city on 27 June 2023. These will be inaugurated by Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. The cost of charging at these points will be Rs 3 per unit. Out of all the chargers being installed, there will be 118 slow charging points (3.3 kW), 32 moderate charging points (15 kW to 22 kW) and 23 fast-chargers.
