4. US-based startup launches unique EV charging solution.

US-based startup Voltpost has announced the commercial launch of its award-winning curbside EV charging solution. The company has started deploying its EV charging solution in major US cities such as New York, Chicago and Detroit. With an aim to find a solution that is affordable as well as easy to install, Voltpost introduced an innovative curbside EV charging idea that repurposes old lamp-posts. The company retrofits lamp-posts with a modular & upgradable Level 2 EV charger which can be accessed via the company’s app. This one-of-a-kind solution provides EV users convenient & affordable charging. Unlike other similar curbside charging solutions, Voltpost can install a charger in under 2 hours for a fraction of the cost with no construction hassles.

Lamp posts/poles can be found everywhere in the US. Voltpost is one of many who have cashed in on this idea, and has came up with unique ‘street lamp charger conversion’ kits. The ‘converted’ street lights still function as lamps, but with the addition of charging facilities for EVs. The company’s design team has used neon green wires that help drivers spot the EV charger at night.

The startup's app lets the EV users locate the nearest street lamp/charger and monitor the charging process. The app also shows whether the nearest Voltpost is occupied, allowing them to move on to the available ones nearby.
