1. Delta Electronics introduces microgrid-based green EV charging station at ELECRAMA 2023.
Delta Electronics showcased a microgrid-based green EV charging station at ELECRAMA 2023. This advanced EV charging solution integrates Delta’s EV chargers, energy storage systems, solar panel coordinated photovoltaic inverters & Charging Management System to enable microgrids capable of providing clean electricity to EVs.
ELECRAMA 2023 was held between 18-22 February at the India Expo Mart, Greater Noida.
2. Tata Motors to help electrify Uber India’s fleet.
Tata Motors has signed a deal with Uber India to supply 25,000 XPRES-T EVs. Tata XPRES-T is the fleet version of the Tigor EV. Uber is likely to begin electric cab services in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru & Ahmedabad. In the beginning, the electric cab service will be offered under premium categories like Uber Premier, Reserve & Rentals. Tata Motors will begin the deliveries in a phased manner.
With plans to introduce 25,000 electric cabs in the next three years, Uber is looking to intensify competition with Indian startup 'BluSmart', which is the market leader in the electric cab space.
3. Hyundai India working on Creta EV.
The electric variant of Hyundai’s Creta SUV was spotted testing for the first time. The Creta EV will be manufactured at Hyundai India’s Chennai plant. The car’s exteriors are the same as its ICE counterpart. The Creta EV is likely to borrow the electric hardware from the Kona Electric. Upon launch, the Creta EV will be Hyundai’s third electric car in India after the Kona Electric and the Ioniq 5. It will take on the MG ZS EV and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki eVX, which was recently unveiled at the Auto Expo 2023. The Creta EV is expected to be priced between Rs 20-30 lakh.
4. Hero MotoCorp’s VIDA brand launches EV charging network.
The electric brand of Hero MotoCorp ‘VIDA’, has launched its EV charging network in Bangalore, Delhi & Jaipur. Vida has set up 300 EV charging points at 50 locations across the above mentioned cities. These charging stations have both AC & DC charging sockets.
VIDA has showrooms or ‘Experience Centers’ in Bengaluru & Jaipur and pop-up stores in Delhi-NCR, where customers can test ride the Vida V1 electric scooter.
5. An electric cycle worth Rs 30,000 launched.
Ahmedabad-based startup ‘NAKS Automation’ has launched an electric bicycle, the NAKS-90 Pro. It is priced at Rs 30,999. From the front, it looks like a regular cycle due to its slim design. The company has encased the battery pack in an IP-rated detachable cover box. The e-cycle has a top speed of 25 km/hr. The company has provided disc brakes at both the front & rear.
