1. Tender floated to set up 47 Solar EV Charging Stations in Indore.
The corporation which manages Indore’s public transport, ‘Atal Indore City Transport Service’, has invited bids for setting up, operating & maintaining 47 solar-powered EV charging stations in the city. The corporation will shortlist the sites where these stations will come up. These stations are to be installed within 6 months of signing the contract. The last date for submission of the bids is 20 October, 2022.
In August 2022, another city in Madhya Pradesh, Satna, had invited bids to install 10 EV charging stations.
2. EKA Mobility ties up with goEgoNetwork.
EKA Mobility has collaborated with goEgoNetwork to fulfill its EV charging needs. As per the agreement, goEgoNetwork will provide EV charging solutions for EKA’s 9-meter buses. The EV charging company will set up ARAI & OCPP certified stations of 30kW, 60kW & 120kW for EKA’s institutional customers across the country.
EKA’s 9-meter electric bus aims at providing clean & efficient public transport in cities. With a capacity of 31 passengers, a driver and some standing passengers, EKA’s electric bus offers a 200 km range on a single charge.
The collaboration with goEgoNetwork is to ensure a fast-charging network for institutional customers of the 9-meter buses across the nation.
3. Government planning to introduce subsidy to set up EV charging stations.
The central government is planning to amend the FAME-II policy to introduce a subsidy for companies looking to set up EV charging hubs across India.
Union Power Secretary Mr.Alok Kumar gave a statement, "We will provide subsidy to companies who will set up charging infrastructure for public transport in small towns and cities.” He added that to set up a 200kW charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, a subsidy of around Rs 4-5 lakh will be provided.
The government will provide subsidy to companies setting up EV charging infrastructure to pay the discoms or power utilities for upstream infrastructure. Presently the companies setting up EV charging stations are required to pay for this upstream infrastructure.
4. Multiple hotels get EV chargers.
EV charging solutions provider ChargeZone recently installed charging points at JW Marriott UB City in Bengaluru, JW Marriott Juhu in Mumbai & Sheraton Grand in Chennai. These chargers are open for the guests as well as outside public.
Radisson Blu, near the Delhi International Airport, inaugurated EV charging points on World EV Day. SunFuel set up these chargers with technology from Siemens.
Le Meridien in Gurugram also had an EV charging station installed and the hotel is offering discounts to its employees to encourage them to use EVs. Sheraton (Navi Mumbai) also inaugurated two DC charging points at the property. The hotel is strategically located close to the very busy Mumbai-Pune Expressway and the EV charging station will be open to outside visitors as well.
5. Affordable electric car by Citroen to be launched soon in India.
Citroen announced in May 2022 that it intends to launch an EV in India in 2023. Now it has been confirmed by auto experts that the offering will be an all-electric iteration of the Citroen C3 and it is likely to be unveiled in December 2022.
The electric Citroen C3 is expected to be launched by April 2023 with an expected price between Rs 10-14 lakh. After its launch, it will compete against the soon-to-be-launched Tata Tiago EV.
A camouflaged test mule of the C3 electric was recently spotted on roads. MG Motors also has plans to launch a small electric car based on the Wuling Air EV.
