1. Statiq sets up EV charging station in Amritsar.

Gurugram-based EV charging company Statiq, which has recently joined hands with Nexus Malls to set up 17 charging stations across 13 cities in India, has set up an EV charging station at Nexus Amritsar Mall, as part of their deal. The charging station is equipped with two DC fast-chargers of 60kW each to charge all kinds of electric cars. Statiq will be installing a combination of slow & fast chargers across Nexus Malls for charging electric two, three and four-wheelers.

2. Ather opens 2 showrooms in Odisha.

Ather Energy has opened 2 experience centers in Odisha. The showrooms are situated in Bhubaneshwar & Cuttack. The company’s flagship Ather 450X and 450 Plus will be available for test rides and purchase at these showrooms. The company has already installed 7 ‘Ather Grid’ charging points in the state and plans to add 18 more to expand its charging network.

Ather also provides home charger installation facility to customers in their flats, houses and buildings.

3. Hyundai India launches its 2nd electric car.

After the Kona Electric, Hyundai India has launched its 2nd electric car, an electric crossover, the Ioniq 5. Interested customers can book the new electric car for a nominal fee of Rs 1 lakh. The Ioniq 5 will have 2 battery options: 58 kWh & 72.6 kWh. The smaller battery pack offers a range of 383 km and the larger battery offers 481 km. Expected price range is between Rs 40-50 lakh. The car has a top speed of 185 km/hr. The Ioniq 5 can reach 100 km/hr in 6.1 & 5.2 seconds for the two battery options respectively.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a cousin of the Kia EV6, which is already available in India.

4. EV charging startup ‘Rebolt’ launches public charging station at Lulu Mall, Bangalore.

EV charging company ‘Rebolt’ (not to be confused with Revolt Motors) has launched an EV charging station at Lulu Global Mall, Bengaluru. Headquartered in Bengaluru, its parent company ‘Trabacus Technologies’ has offices in India & US. It also runs a website in the US catering to buying & selling used Tesla cars.

Rebolt also has an app through which the EV user can easily find chargers on a map, book a charging slot, view real-time availability of chargers. At the charging station, the EV user can simply scan a QR code to start charging. Rebolt is primarily operating in Karnataka currently and plans to expand to other states soon.

5. Electric Vehicles contributing immensely to a pollution-free Chennai.

The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC), which has deployed battery-operated garbage collection vehicles, is helping to keep net carbon emissions in the city to a minimum. As per official GCC data, the corporation has 5863 battery-operated three-wheelers for garbage collection that saves 3000 tonnes of carbon emissions a day. One vehicle reduces emission by around 0.5 tonne. The civic body is planning to set up EV charging stations at 88 locations and plans to add 365 more battery-operated vehicles in the city.
