1. Tata Motors collaborates with Delta Electronics & Thunderplus for EV charging solutions.

Tata Motors has joined hands with EV charging solutions companies Delta Electronics India & Thunderplus to set-up EV charging infrastructure for commercial EVs. The agreement among the 3 outlines their respective roles as follows:

  • Tata Motors will identify locations & dealerships for new EV charging stations.
  • Delta Electronics India will supply EV charging hardware.
  • Thunderplus Solutions will take care of the installation & operation of the charging stations.

This tie-up aims to set-up 250 EV charging stations in 50 cities starting from Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Pune & Kochi.

2. IIT Madras-incubated startup Plugzmart receives ARAI certification for indigenously developed EV charger.

IIT Madras-incubated EV charger manufacturing startup 'Plugzmart' has received certification for its EV charger from Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI). The certification for the company’s 60 kW DC fast charger & controller card signifies their compliance with operational safety standards & efficiency norms in India.

At present, Plugzmart is developing high-capacity DC fast-chargers with their own controller & PLC module (power-line communication module). The startup has plans to offer a wide range of EV charging products integrated with their software solutions.

3. Used battery-run EV charging station to be set-up near Bengaluru Airport.

A one-of-its kind EV charging station will come up very soon near Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru for electric cabs & general public. The station will be developed 1.5 km from the airport at Devanahalli and will be able to support 23 EVs at a time. The facility will feature multiple DC fast-chargers and AC chargers. EV users will be able to access the chargers via the EV Mitra app.

The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) is carrying out this project along with German partner ‘GIZ’ & Bengaluru-based energy storage solutions company Nunam. The project will use second-life electric car batteries to store power. At present, trials are going on at the site, post which solar energy generated during the day will be stored in the batteries and supplied to EVs 24/7. Solar panels are also being installed. The charging facility is expected to be inaugurated in the first week of September.

4. Servotech bags contract from Kerala Government to set-up 12 EV charging stations.

EV charger manufacturer Servotech Power Systems has bagged a contract from Kerala Government’s ‘Agency for New and Renewable Energy Research and Technology’ (ANERT) to set-up 12 EV charging stations. The agreement involves Servotech supplying, commissioning & installing 12 30 kW fast EV charging stations at various locations in the state. The project will be executed in 2 phases, with the 1st phase involving 4 charging stations & the 2nd involving addition of the remaining 8.

Servotech Power Systems shares jumped by 4.5% after the company announced this news. The Servotech stock has consistently delivered multibagger returns since last 3 years.

5. IKEA India announces all-electric deliveries in Bengaluru, Hyderabad & Pune.

IKEA India underlined its commitment to sustainability by announcing the electrification of its delivery fleet in Bengaluru, Hyderabad & Pune. To support this transition, IKEA is also working on developing an EV charging network. The company is setting-up EV charging stations for large EVs across the areas of its operations.

After Bengaluru, Hyderabad & Pune, Mumbai is next on IKEA’s list of fleet transformation. IKEA India’s move to 100% electric deliveries is part of its global commitment to achieve zero-carbon footprint by 2030. The company has joined hands with Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland (Switch Mobility), EKA Mobility and Gati for its electric fleets. Currently, around 88% of IKEA's deliveries across India are done using EVs, and the company is targeting 100% electric deliveries in the country by 2025.
