1. Delhi Government to install roadside EV charging points.

Delhi Government is planning to install 5000 kerbside EV charging points on major roads in the next 3 years.

Kerbside charging is an emerging concept globally where EVs can be charged while being parked roadside on footpaths, open parkings etc. EV chargers are usually installed on streetlight lamp posts, traffic light posts or dedicated charging posts.

The process will start with a pilot for 100 kerbside chargers spread equitably across the three discoms in Delhi.

Globally, kerbside charging has been successful in cities like London & New York.

2. Indian Oil ties up with eVolt India for EV charging in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana.

Indian Oil has partnered with EV charging startup ‘eVolt’ to develop charging infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab & Haryana. The two companies will install 75 EV charging stations in these 3 states. The plan is to setup 3.3kW AC and 7.4kW AC charging stations for electric two-wheelers and electric cars at the existing Indian Oil petrol pumps in these states.

Apart from this, eVolt has recently set up AC and DC charging stations at educational institutions in Delhi, Rajasthan & Uttar Pradesh.

3. Shell plans 10,000 EV chargers in India.

Oil & gas major ‘Shell’ plans to set up more than 10,000 EV charging points across the country through its Indian arm, by 2030.

Customers will be able to use these chargers through the ‘Shell Recharge India App’. The app allows users to locate the nearest available charger, book slots, view charging status on a real-time basis and make quick online payments.

The company recently launched its first EV charger for electric two-wheelers and electric cars in Bengaluru. India is the first market for Shell to launch chargers for electric two-wheelers.

The company plans to provide customized EV charging services at on-the-go locations such as Shell petrol pumps, standalone EV hubs, home charging & destination charging. For petrol pumps and standalone EV hubs, the company plans to deploy rapid DC chargers.

In the first phase, the company will set up EV charging stations across Shell petrol pumps in Bangalore located at Yeshwantpur, Marathahalli, Old Madras Road, Brookefield & Kanakpura.

4. EV charging facilities launched at 9 railways stations in Mumbai.

Mumbai received 9 new EV charging stations at railway stations across the city. The 9 stations where EV charging facilities have been launched are Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Dadar, Byculla, Parel, Kurla, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Bhandup, Kalyan & Panvel.

Charging facilities at these railway stations will be available 24/7.

5. BYD India opens dealership in Bangalore.

BYD India has opened a new passenger EV dealership in the country, in Bengaluru. This is the company’s sixth dealership in India

Spread over 1600 sq ft, the dealership has a service station, trained technicians, an EV charging station, a customer lounge & a showroom display floor.

BYD India is planning to launch the Atto 3, which is an electric SUV. The official debut will take place next month. The electric SUV is already on sale in select global markets.

The Atto 3 will take on Hyundai Kona Electric & MG ZS EV. The rumoured price is Rs.25-30 lakhs.
