1. Omega Seiki launches EV charging station at a university in Delhi.

Omega Seiki Mobility (OSM) opened an EV charging station at Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women. The station has been branded as ‘OSM E-Link’. Omega Seiki also plans to set up a testing lab at the campus for EV battery research work.

The company plans to install more charging stations in the coming months at various public locations.

The company will be also working with the students of the university in designing & developing an e-racing car model for contesting in various competitions globally.

2. Ahmedabad-based ‘Tirex’ to set up EV chargers at Hindustan Petroleum outlets in Gujarat & Rajasthan.

Hindustan Petroleum has awarded a contract to Ahmedabad-based Tirex, an EV charging solutions company, to set up 60 EV chargers at its petrol pumps in Gujarat & Rajasthan.

As per the contract, Tirex will supply two types of DC fast chargers for this project: one rated between 25-30kW and the other rated between 50-60kW.

Tirex has previously supplied EV chargers to NTPC, Ashok Leyland, Olectra Greentech, Kerala State Electricity Board, etc.

3. The Prime Minister talks about EV ecosystem in India.

Speaking at an event, the Prime Minister talked about the future of India’s EV sector. The PM said, “Numerous incentives are being offered to purchasers of electric vehicles as part of the government's efforts to strengthen the EV ecosystem. The government has taken many actions, including simplifying the loan application procedure. A lot of policy decisions have also been taken to prepare a robust electric vehicle charging infrastructure.”

At the event, PM Modi laid the foundation stone of an upcoming EV manufacturing facility to be set up by Suzuki in Gujarat.

4. Maruti Suzuki celebrates 40 years of operations in the country with big announcements.

On the occasion of 40 years of Maruti Suzuki's operations in India, PM Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for two new units: an electric vehicle battery manufacturing facility at Hansalpur (Gujarat) & vehicle manufacturing facility in Kharkhoda (Haryana).

Suzuki also announced the establishment of a Research & Development Centre.

Suzuki will roll out its first all-electric SUV from the Gujarat plant in 2025. The ‘made-in-India’ electric SUV will be sold in Maruti and Toyota iterations in both domestic and international markets. The inauguration of Suzuki’s BEV plant fulfills the MoU signed by Suzuki Motors with the state of Gujarat at the Indo-Japan Economic Summit held in Delhi.

5. Telangana to get 1000 EV chargers under PPP model.

Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation (TSREDCO) stated that around 1000 EV chargers would be set up across the state under Public Private Partnership model.

Presently, there are 156 EV charging stations in operation in the state and another 100 being set up. Telangana has around 32,000 EVs on road. DV Ramakrishna, Project Director (TSREDCO) gave a statement: “Telangana Government is taking several measures to meet the expected high demand from the EV sector.”
