1. Magenta launches new EV charger with 12 charging outputs.
Magenta Mobility has launched a new EV charger named ‘Plent’. It is the country’s first charger with 12 charging outputs. Each output is of 3.3 kW. The charger is compatible with electric two, three and four-wheelers. The Plent incorporates a ‘Central Control Unit’ that coordinates with 12 outputs. It is OCPP-compliant and seamlessly connects with other charging networks, ensuring interoperability. The central control unit gets over-the-air (OTA) updates. The charger features a 7-inch touchscreen display.
Maxson Lewis, MD, Magenta Mobility stated: “We are excited to introduce Plent which is a short form for ‘Plenty’. It is a multi-charging product meticulously engineered in-house.”
2. Luxury Hotels in Hyderabad and Madurai get EV charging stations.
An EV charging station has been launched at the ‘Novotel Hyderabad Airport’ hotel. Located within the premises of the property, the new EV charging station is open for hotel guests, airport visitors and general public. The hotel is located 30-minutes from Hyderabad’s popular spots including Ramoji Film City, Charminar and Hussain Sagar Lake.
Courtyard by Marriott Madurai welcomed an EV charging station. The station’s services can be used by hotel guests and outside public 24/7. The charging station is compatible with electric cars.
3. Ola Electric teases a new electric scooter.
Ola Electric Founder Bhavish Aggarwal teased a new electric scooter on Twitter. Sources say the new offering from the company will be a tourer version of the Ola S1. (A tourer or a touring scooter is a large scooter with a bigger battery. These scooters are heavy and offer a better range, suitable for long-distance travel).
The new scooter will be launched in July. This will be Ola’s fourth electric scooter after S1, S1 Pro and S1 Air.
4. Tata Motors unveils the Harrier EV.
Tata Motors recently unveiled the Harrier EV via Twitter and Instagram. The company shared the image of the upcoming electric SUV, which it had showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo.
Tata Motors has updated the electric car’s front grill, making it different from the Harrier’s ICE version. The automaker also told that the car will be launched in 2024.
The final specifications of the Harrier EV are not known at present but sources say the electric SUV will feature a 60 kW battery pack which offers a range of 400-500 km. Charging features like vehicle-to-load (VTL) and vehicle-to-vehicle (VTV) will also be given. (VTL is a feature that lets EVs use their stored energy to charge other devices. VTV is a feature that lets EVs use their stored energy to charge other EVs). Tata Motors has also confirmed that the Harrier EV will be equipped with a ‘dual electric motor setup’, allowing an all-wheel drive (AWD) system.
5. Kolkata Airport to get EV charging station with four fast-chargers.
An EV charging station is being installed at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata. The station will consist of four 30 kW DC fast-chargers. Tata Power is working on this charging station. The station is being set-up opposite the old domestic terminal at the airport. It is almost ready and will be available for airport staff and visitors in a couple of weeks.
The charging station can be operated via the Tata Power EZ Charge app. To make the airport more carbon compliant, the airport has phased-out a number of diesel vehicles in operational duty and replaced them with EVs.
