1. Statiq to integrate Bharat Petroleum EV charging stations in its network.

Statiq has partnered with Bharat Petroleum (BPCL) for integrating BPCL’s charging infrastructure into its network. Apart from this, Statiq will also develop a bespoke EV charging app for BPCL. At present, BPCL petrol pumps have around 2800 EV chargers (2000 AC chargers & 800 DC fast-chargers). The integration of BPCL’s charging network into Statiq’s app will ensure their 24/7 online availability, online payment options, and will allow users to have access to real-time information about the charging process.

Statiq is rapidly expanding its EV charging network by integrating more chargers. The company’s CEO Akshit Bansal gave a statement about the same: “This collaboration allows us to leverage BPCL’s vast network, providing seamless & convenient charging solutions to a larger number of EV users.”

2. BluSmart raises funds for expanding its EV charging infrastructure.

EV cab service startup BluSmart has raised $24 million (Rs 200 crore) in a Pre-Series B funding round. The company plans to use this investment to expand its electric cab service operations & EV charging infrastructure to new markets. Cricketer MS Dhoni’s Family Office also participated in the funding round.

Unlike Ola & Uber, BluSmart owns its fleet of electric cabs. The company employs drivers who are paid a fixed salary as well as performance-based incentives. BluSmart has also set-up EV charging hubs to charge its cabs. Recently, the company opened its charging infrastructure to all EV users. It launched the 'BluSmart Charge’ app through which all EV owners can access the company’s charging network. Also, BluSmart recently commenced international operations. Last month, the company started its electric cab services in Dubai.

3. Oil India Limited sets-up EV charging station in Noida.

Public sector Maharatna, Oil India Limited, recently inaugurated an EV charging station in Noida. The charging station is located in Sector-15A's Club House. Post inauguration, the charging station was handed over to the President of the Residents' Welfare Association (RWA) of Noida Sector 15A.This drive was part of Oil India's CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiative.

4. BYD India launches EV competition for engineering students.

BYD India has joined hands with Automotive Skill Development Council (ASDC) to launch an EV competition called ‘BYD EV INNOVATE-A-THON’. The competition is targeted towards engineering students and aims to create a bridge between academia & industry in India's electric vehicle sector.

The program comprises of 3 phases: an online preliminary round, a digital prototype round and a physical prototype construction & sales pitch round. The winners will receive an all-expenses paid trip to BYD’s headquarters in Shenzhen (China). Runners-up will receive cash prizes.

5. Uttar Pradesh Government extends its EV subsidy scheme for 3 more years.

Uttar Pradesh state government, on July 16, notified the extension of its EV policy till 2027. Under the policy’s subsidy scheme, electric two-wheelers will continue getting a subsidy of Rs 5000, while electric four-wheelers will be eligible for an incentive of Rs 1 lakh.

The state government has kept aside Rs 100 crore for electric two-wheelers with a target of subsidizing 2 lakh EVs, while for four-wheelers it has fixed a budget of Rs 250 crore. The subsidy scheme also allows a Rs 20 lakh subsidy for private electric buses and Rs 12,000 for every electric three-wheeler. UP state government officials recently met major automakers last week, including Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors & Mahindra.
