1. Electric versions of Tata Safari and Tata Harrier.
Tata Motors is prepping up for the launch of electric variants of its Safari & Harrier SUVs. Development mules of both the cars were recently spotted on road. The cars didn’t have tailpipes and hardly made any noise which usually comes from diesel SUVs. Very little is known about the specifications and features of the two upcoming electric cars. The SUVs are expected to have multiple driving modes and a range of around 500 km.
Apart from these two, Tata Motors is also working on the electric version of the Altroz premium hatchback.
2. Jio-BP to install EV charging stations at real estate firm Piramal Realty's properties.
Jio-BP has joined hands with Piramal Realty for providing EV charging solutions across all of Piramal’s projects in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). As per the agreement, all residents & visitors will be able to charge their EVs at Jio-BP Pulse EV charging stations installed at the properties via the Jio-BP Pulse mobile app.
Jio-bp has already installed the first EV charging station at Piramal Vaikunth in Thane.
3. Altigreen opens showroom in Gurugram.
Commercial EV manufacturer Altigreen inaugurated a new showroom in Gurugram. This is the company’s 28th showroom/dealership in India.
Altigreen already has ‘retail experience centres’ in metro cities like Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Delhi & Bengaluru. The company also introduced a new EV ‘Altigreen NeEV Tez’, which Altigreen claims is the world’s fastest charging 3-wheeler!
The NeEV Tez features Exponent Energy’s 3-in-1 connector that allows the driver to choose between slow, fast & superfast charging. The NeEV Tez gets fully charged in 15 minutes via Exponent’s ‘e^pump’. Using a Bharat DC charger, it takes up to 1 hour to completely charge and using a 16A socket, it takes 3 hours 30 minutes.
4. Tata Motors planning showrooms for electric cars exclusively.
Tata Motors is planning EV-exclusive showrooms and we may get to experience it in 2024. The company is likely to open 10 such EV-exclusive showrooms in metro cities initially. Insiders say that the first dedicated EV dealership will be opened in Delhi-NCR. When this news hit social media, people reacted positively and hoped the company also starts exclusive service centres for EVs. Before this, Maruti Suzuki also launched a dedicated channel for premium offerings called Nexa.
5. Himachal Pradesh Govt to set up 26 EV charging stations in Kullu.
To encourage people to adopt electric vehicles, the Himachal Pradesh state govt has plans to set-up charging stations at 26 places in Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district. At present, 2 electric cars have been deployed at the Kullu RTO. Two EV charging points of 7.2 kW each have been installed at the Mini Secretariat premises in the district. Sites for the upcoming EV charging stations have been reserved. HP state government is targeting vehicles of all government departments in the state to be replaced by electric ones before 2025. The Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) is currently running 25 electric buses on various routes passing through Kullu, including tourist attractions of Rohtang Pass, Atal Tunnel, Solang Valley & Manikaran Sahib. For their charging requirements, 7 DC fast-charging stations have been installed in Kullu and 5 in Manali. The buses have a range of 200 km and take 2 hours to fully charge. National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is also working on 3 sites along the national highway near Manali, which will have EV charging stations and other facilities for tourists & locals.
