1. Tata Motors to open EV exclusive showrooms.
Tata Motors is planning to set-up an exclusive dealership network for electric cars under its new brand identity ‘Tata.ev’. Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, stated: “Tata Motors EV showrooms will evolve over time. This is necessary due to the new brand identity we have created to provide a differentiated experience to customers. Simultaneously, we must ensure that the scale reaches a level viable for our channel partners. Our EV portfolio will also expand in the coming years, so we need to seriously consider this idea, or else we won’t be doing justice to both the internal combustion engine and EV portfolios in the same showroom.” These EV exclusive showrooms will be gradually introduced beginning with metro cities.
Tata Motors recently launched the 2023 Nexon EV Facelift priced at Rs 14.74 lakh.
2. Mercedes India welcomes the EQE electric SUV.
Mercedes-Benz has launched its third electric car and second electric SUV in India, the EQE. The company already has the EQS electric sedan and the EQB electric SUV in its portfolio.
The new EQE features a 90.6 kWh battery pack which gives a range of 550 km. The electric SUV is adorned by the ‘MBUX Hyperscreen’, a 56-inch triple-screen panel spanning the dashboard width! The EQE 500 4MATIC will be fully-imported as a CBU. It will come with a 10 year battery warranty. The premium SUV has been priced at Rs 1.39 crore and will compete with the BMW iX , Jaguar I-Pace & Audi Q8 e-tron.
Mercedes-Benz India EV Charging Network:
Mercedes-Benz India also announced the democratization of its EV charging network. All EV customers in India irrespective of brands, will now be able to use the company’s charging infrastructure. Mercedes India has 140 EV charging stations across the country, including 40 DC fast-chargers.
3. Fyn collaborates with Euler Motors.
EV-as-a-service logistics platform Fyn Mobility has partnered with electric commercial vehicle manufacturer Euler Motors for 2000 fast-charging electric three-wheelers. These EVs will help expand Fyn’s operations to new locations including Mumbai, Delhi & Coimbatore. At present, the startup has presence in Chennai, Hyderabad & Bengaluru. Through this collaboration, Euler will empower Fyn to establish India’s largest fast-charging electric three-wheeler fleet for the B2B sector.
Fyn has secured funding from Malaysian energy giant Petronas-owned Gentari for the entire order from Euler Motors. Euler will deliver 2000 units of its flagship electric three-wheeler HiLoad EV within the next 18 months.
Fyn aims to have a 5000-strong EV fleet by 2024.
4. Iconic British automaker Lotus set to arrive in India with an EV.
Legendary British auto brand Lotus is all set to arrive in India by 2023 end with two cars: Emira & Eletre. While Emira is a conventional ICE car, Eletre is an electric SUV which sports a 109 kWh battery, that gives a range of 600 km. It is compatible with 350 kW rapid chargers.
Lotus claims that the Eletre can accelerate from 0-100 km/hr in around 3 seconds and has a top speed of 260 km/hr.
Prices are likely to start from Rs 2.5 crore. Lotus will sell its cars through Delhi-based Exclusive Motors.
5. Dynamo eBikes launch multiple electric two-wheelers.
Electric two-wheeler startup ‘Dynamo eBikes’ has introduced a range of low and high speed electric two-wheelers. A total of 6 new models were launched at the ‘EV India Expo 2023’ held in Greater Noida. Two high speed models RX1 & RX4, priced at Rs 82,000 & Rs 99,000 respectively, were showcased. These feature fast-charging compatible lithium batteries. Four low speed models Alpha, Smiley, Infinity and VX1, were also showcased. Prices of these start at Rs 55,000. Features include fire-proof swappable batteries and smart BMS.
'Dynamo eBikes' was established in 2021 and plans to set-up a diverse dealer, service & charging network across the country.
