1. Tata Nexon EV achieves a major milestone.
Tata Nexon EV has become India’s first electric car to cross the 50,000 unit sales mark. The electric SUV has achieved this milestone three years after its launch in 2020. Tata Motors sells the Nexon in petrol, diesel and electric avatars. The electric Nexon contributes 15% of the total Nexon brand sales.
On this occasion, Tata Motors thanked the 'early adopters who believed in the promise of the Nexon EV and in-turn allowed the EV ecosystem to build and become what it is now.'
2. Ampere joins hands with Salesforce.
Ampere, the popular electric two-wheeler brand of Greaves Electric Mobility, has joined hands with Salesforce to improve its sales, service and dealer management system. Ampere is working on increasing its retail network. The collaboration aims to automate sales, service & dealer management by deploying Salesforce’s ‘Sales Cloud’ & ‘Service Cloud’ offerings. This will provide Ampere data-driven insights.
Salesforce will also provide Ampere's retail partners with better dealer management systems to improve customer experience in offline & online channels.
3. Magenta partners with Altigreen and Exponent Energy.
Integrated electric mobility company Magenta Mobility has partnered with commercial EV manufacturer Altigreen and fast-charging tech player Exponent Energy. Magenta will deploy Altigreen’s electric three-wheeler neEV Tez in its fleet. To support this fleet, Exponent will install e^pump, its fast-charging tech that allows the EV to be fully charged in 15 minutes. The three partners recently completed a three-month pilot program and will deploy 1000 Altigreen neEV Tez e-three wheelers, powered by Exponent over the next 1 year. Exponent has already installed 30 e^pumps across Bengaluru. More e^pumps will be installed in other cities soon.
Magenta Mobility aims to disrupt the logistics landscape in the country through its fully integrated electric mobility solutions, which include EVs, EV charging infrastructure & software. This integrated approach offers end-to-end solutions, allowing for more streamlined operations while providing important insights from the fleet.
4. Electric motorcycle manufacturer ‘Oben Electric’ raises funds.
Electric motorcycle startup Oben Electric has raised Rs 40 crore in an extended pre-series A round, bringing its total pre-series fundraise to Rs 72 crore (equity & debt combined). The funding round saw participation from Stride Ventures, Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA), Mumbai Angels and existing investors including Kalvani Family Office, US India EV Angels & We Founder Circle.
Oben Electric plans to use the investment to increase its production capacity to 100,000 units per year at its manufacturing unit in Bengaluru and for its working capital requirements.
Oben is highly R&D-driven and designs, develops & manufactures its electric motorcycles and important EV components in-house. The company is now focusing on advanced battery tech to enhance range and reduce charging time. The startup recently opened its first experience center in HSR Layout, Bengaluru and will start delivering its performance electric motorcycle ‘Oben Rorr’ first week of July onwards.
5. BillionElectric enters India and raises funds.
Electric Mobility as-a-Service (E-MaaS) platform 'BillionElectric' has announced its entry in the country and has raised $10 million in a seed-funding round. These funds will be earmarked for the deployment of electric tarmac buses at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru and for development of a middle-mile heavy EV trucks platform. The company has already signed a contract to expand its services to 10 more airports in India.
As part of its E-MaaS offering, BillionElectric will provide a variety of services, including EVs, EV charging infrastructure in collaboration with Charge Zone and an integrated software.
