1. Ola Electric launches new scooter.
Ola Electric has launched the company’s cheapest electric scooter. It has been named ‘Ola S1 Air’. The ex-showroom price is Rs.84,999. The new S1 Air looks similar to the existing Ola scooters. It gets a 2.5kWh lithium-ion battery pack and offers a range of around 100km. The company claims the S1 Air can be fully charged in 4.5 hours using a regular charger. The Ola S1 Air gets a ‘hyperdrive electric motor’ with a peak power output of 4.5kW (6 bhp) and a top speed of 85 km/hr. The new electric scooter sports a 7-inch touchscreen display.
2. Mahindra and ChargeZone announce collaboration.
Mahindra has partnered with EV charging company ChargeZone to set up a network of charging stations for its upcoming electric SUVs. Mahindra EV users will have access to ChargeZone's network of over 2500 charging points across 25 cities and thousands of kilometers of highways.
The terms of partnership involve ChargeZone installing & maintaining fast DC chargers at various locations selected by Mahindra and its group companies. In addition to this, ChargeZone will also help with e-mobility solutions via app which will involve locating, booking & e-payment, with the aim of allowing all EV users to seamlessly access the charging network and complete the charging process. Designed for electric cars, the charging stations will be open to Mahindra electric car owners as well as general public. ChargeZone will install rapid DC charging points (CCS2), which provide 80-100% charge in 20-30 minutes.
3. Delhi Airport adopts electric in a big way.
The Delhi International Airport recently received & deployed 57 electric vehicles for internal use. The airport operators will gradually phase-out all diesel and petrol vehicles in operation. In the first phase, the airport authorities had placed an order for 64 EVs for its internal operations. Of these, 57 have been delivered & deployed while the remaining 7 are expected soon.
For smooth access & convenience, the Delhi Airport has also installed 12 charging stations with 22 charging points across the airport to facilitate EV charging services for passengers, airport employees and cabs/taxis. There are plans to add more EV charging stations in a phased manner to support the growing need. The airport is also using electric buses for transportation of passengers at a few terminals. These buses currently ferry passengers on a regular interval of 20 minutes.
4. Tata Group company ‘IHCL’ (Taj Hotels, Ginger Hotels, etc) installs 224 EV charging stations.
Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL), India’s largest hospitality company, has installed 224 electric vehicle charging stations at 92 of its properties. These EV charging points, in collaboration with group company Tata Power, are present across various Taj, Ginger, Vivanta and other IHCL properties across the country.These chargers can be accessed by the guests staying at these hotels & resorts.
5. Thiruvananthapuram Airport introduces electric vehicles.
The Thiruvananthapuram International Airport has procured 4 electric vehicles for internal use. These will be used for maintenance and other operations at the airport. The airport authority has plans for setting up EV charging stations for passengers and employees soon.
