EV Updates – Maharashtra Leads the EV Charging Race, Solar EV Charging Station Launched and much more

1. Maharashtra leads the charge in EV charging stations across India.

The Ministry of Heavy Industries has stated that there are 12,146 public EV charging stations in operation in the country. Maharashtra leads the list with 3079 EV charging stations, followed by Delhi with 1886 and Karnataka with 1041. Other states that make up the top 10 include Kerala (852), Tamil Nadu (643), Uttar Pradesh (582), Rajasthan (500), Telangana (481), Gujarat (476) and Madhya Pradesh (341). The state government of Maharashtra has appointed Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co Ltd (MSEDCL), also known as MahaVitaran, as the nodal agency to lead the development of charging infrastructure in the state.

The Ministry of Heavy Industries also stated that there is no global consensus of number of EV charging points required for a certain number of EVs. The requirements are dynamic, and in the wide range of 1 charging point per 20 EVs to 1 charging point per 150 EVs.

2. Servotech signs contract with Adani to supply EV chargers.

Servotech Power Systems has signed a contract with Adani TotalEnergies E-Mobility Ltd (a subsidiary of Adani Total Gas). As per the contract, Servotech will manufacture, supply & install AC EV chargers at various designated locations for Adani. The project will be executed in phases, and Servotech has already commenced the supply of the first batch of EV chargers.

This tie-up aims to develop a user-friendly EV charging network by streamlining navigation for EV users, enhancing discovery & availability of chargers and simplifying payments.

3. MG and BatX Energies launch an off-the-grid EV charging station.

MG India and battery recycling company BatX Energies unveiled an off-the-grid solar EV charging station in Delhi. The charging station has been powered by repurposed MG electric car batteries and a second-life battery storage system developed by BatX Energies. This storage system offers power starting at 20 kWh and is scalable up to 100 kWh, supported by 6.6 kW of solar power. The newly-launched off-grid solar-powered charging station generates 40 kWh daily (equivalent to 40 units). The EV charging station is compatible with electric two-wheelers and four-wheelers.

4. Terra Charge inaugurates R&D facility in Kolkata.

Terra Charge has inaugurated a new R&D facility in New Town area of Kolkata. The objective of this cutting-edge centre is to expand the company’s range of EV chargers, enhance its chargers’ potential, explore advanced charging methods and newer energy management strategies. The R&D facility will carry out advanced testing and prototype development. By investing in R&D, Terra Charge aims to develop future-ready EV charging solutions to cater to the evolving needs of EVs & EV fleets.

The company has also recently launched a ‘Terra Charge Blanket Solution’, a comprehensive EV package for logistics businesses which includes electric cargo vehicles, EV financing, EV charging infrastructure and charging management software/fleet management software.

5. Euler Motors and Magenta Mobility extend their partnership.

Electric commercial vehicle manufacturer Euler Motors and integrated e-mobility company Magenta Mobility have extended their partnership with a fresh order of 2000 HiLoad EVs, after the successful deployment of 500 of these electric three-wheelers. HiLoad EV is a commercial electric three-wheeler from Euler which is being deployed in Magenta’s fleet. This announcement comes as a part of the 4 year long partnership between the two companies.

The newly ordered EVs will be manufactured at Euler's facility in Palwal, Haryana and will be delivered within the next 18 months. The new deal is valued at Rs 100 crore.
