1. Google Maps collaborates with Kazam and other EV charging companies.
Google Maps has introduced new features in India to enhance navigation. The platform has also announced collaboration with top EV charging providers in India to display information about their EV charging stations on the app. Google Maps will add information of around 8000 EV charging stations on its platform belonging to leading EV charging networks like Kazam, Statiq, Ather Grid & ElectricPe. Users will have access to comprehensive information about plug/connector types & charger real-time availability, and will be able to filter by charger type. Also, India is the first country to feature EV chargers for electric two-wheelers on Google Maps!
Kazam's widespread network of EV chargers, present in over 15 states, will now be visible on Google Maps.
2. Servotech bags new order from Bharat Petroleum for EV chargers.
Servotech Power Systems has received an additional order of 400 DC Fast EV Chargers from Bharat Petroleum (BPCL). This new order is valued at Rs 20 crore and will involve manufacturing, installing & deploying these EV chargers nationwide, at BPCL petrol pumps.
Servotech had previously received an order of 1800 DC Fast EV Chargers from BPCL. That order was valued at Rs 120 crore, which has now been increased by 20% after this new order. Till date, Servotech has completed 35% of the charger deployment on schedule.
3. Government extends EMPS for two more months.
The Ministry of Heavy Industries has extended the Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme (EMPS) for two more months. The scheme was launched on 1 April 2024 with an outlay of Rs 500 crores. It was initially planned for only four months, following the expiry of the FAME II scheme in March 2024, as the government could announce the new FAME scheme only after elections. The extended EMPS will have an outlay of Rs 278 crores for the additional two months.
The eligible EV categories in EMPS remain unchanged, with subsidies available only for electric two & three wheelers (including registered e-rickshaws & e-carts). Sources say finalising the FAME III scheme may take more time.
4. Euler Motors opens showroom in Noida.
Commercial EV manufacturer Euler Motors has inaugurated its new showroom in Noida. The new showroom is located in Sector 63 of Noida. This new location is the company’s 21st dealership across India. It features Euler’s flagship commercial electric three-wheeler, the HiLoad EV. The new showroom offers financing & after-sales support.
The Euler HiLoad EV comes with a payload capacity of 688 kg, a range of 170 km, rapid charging capabilities and vehicle tracking system.
5. Ola Electric halts its electric car project.
Ola Electric has suspended its electric car plans and will focus on expanding its electric scooter business for the time being. Multiple news sources reported the same:
As per sources, the electric car project has been put on hold for at least the next two years. This comes at a time when the company is gearing up for its IPO. The company had plans to launch an electric sports car by 2024 that would feature an all-glass roof.
