1. Jio-BP inaugurates its 500th EV charging station.
Reliance’s Anant Ambani and British energy major BP’s CEO Murray Auchincloss recently inaugurated Jio-bp’s 500th EV charging station at the Jio World Convention Centre in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai.
Jio-bp is a joint venture between Reliance Industries & BP which is involved in fuels & electric mobility. The partnership has expanded its EV charging network from 1300 EV charging stations to 5000 in a single year. Jio bp made a statement at the event: “With 95% of our EV charging network comprising of fast-charging stations, the highest in the industry, the company is poised to deliver high-speed electrons with unmatched industry-leading uptime of 96%, establishing itself as the country’s most reliable charging network.”
2. Sonalika Tractors plans to manufacture and export electric quadricycle.
Sonalika Tractors is working on an electric quadricycle and plans to enter Europe, starting with Netherlands. This marks a huge shift for the company's business, expanding from agricultural solutions to urban mobility. Sonalika has already designed a prototype in partnership with a foreign company. The electric quadricycle (or microcar) will be manufactured at the company’s new, ‘electric-only’ manufacturing unit. Apart from the quadricycle, Sonalika will also manufacture electric tractors at the same facility.
Punjab-based Sonalika is a major tractor manufacturer in India with a share of 13.5% in the domestic market. The company is a big tractor exporter as well, with an export market share of around 34%. The company is investing Rs 1000 crore in its EV endeavours which involves electric quadricycle & tractor.
3. Dehradun to get 9 EV charging stations soon.
Dehradun (Uttarakhand) will soon have 9 EV charging stations in the city. Dehradun’s DM gave a statement that the Dehradun Municipal Corporation (DMC) has conducted surveys and finalized multiple locations, including Gandhi Park, Rispana, Clock Tower, IT Park, etc.
Each EV charging station will have 2 charging points.
4. BMW welcomes the CE 02 electric two-wheeler in India.
BMW Motorrad India is all-set to launch the BMW CE 02 electric two-wheeler on 1 October, 2024. This will be BMW’s second electric two-wheeler in India after the CE 04 electric scooter. While the CE 04 is imported, the CE 02 will be locally manufactured in India by BMW Motorrad’s domestic partner TVS Motors. The new BMW CE 02 is a cross between a scooter & a motorcycle.
The BMW CE 02 will come in 2 motor options: 11 kW (14.7 bhp) with a top speed of 95 km/hr, and 4 kW (5.3 bhp) with a top speed of 45 km/hr. The vehicle will feature a 2kWh battery which will give a range of 45km. Charging from 0-100% will take a little over 5 hours with the standard 0.9 kW charger, while the optional 1.5 kW fast charger will reduce the charging time to 3 hours 30 minutes. An additional 2kWh battery can also be bought which will double the range to 90km. As far as features are concerned, the CE 02 will come with a 3.5 inch screen with connectivity options, all-LED lights, USB charging, reverse gear & keyless ignition.
Prices will be announced at launch (October 1). Since the EV is being made in India, expect a significantly lower price tag than the CE 04.
5. Magenta Mobility achieves a significant milestone.
Magenta Mobility has reached a significant milestone with 2000 cargo electric vehicles across India. The company has now deployed 2000 cargo electric three-wheelers and an additional 250 cargo electric four-wheelers, in major cities like Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru & Chennai. These operations are supported by a widespread charging network consisting of 90 EV charging depots & around 1500 chargers.
Magenta's growth is supported by clients such as Amazon, Flipkart, DMart, Zomato, Delhivery & DHL. The company has plans to enter new markets like Jaipur & Lucknow very soon, and is on the way to expand its fleet to 4000 cargo electric three-wheelers & 1000 electric four-wheelers by March 2025.
