1. Tata Motors touches the 1 lakh electric cars milestone.

Tata Motors, India’s no.1 electric car seller has reached the important milestone of 1 lakh EV sales. The automaker stated: “The journey from its first 10k to 1 lakh electric cars has constantly accelerated with a narrowing gap, with the last 50k being achieved in just 9 months!”

The company started its EV journey three years ago and it has been nothing short of revolutionary. It currently sells 3 electric cars: Nexon EV, Tigor EV and Tiago EV. Tata Motors showcased its upcoming electric cars at the 2023 Auto Expo including the Avinya EV, Harrier EV and Sierra EV. Apart from these, the company is also working on Altroz EV, Punch EV, Safari EV and Curvv EV.

With Independence Day right around the corner, Tata Motors has joined hands with the Kendriya Police Kalyan Bhandar (KPKB), to offer its electric cars at special rates. As a measure of welfare for the currently serving & retired members of Railway Protection Force (RPF), National Investigation Agency (NIA), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), all state police personnel and other security institutions, the Home Ministry set-up the Kendriya Police Kalyan Bhandar (KPKB).

2. Servotech to set up EV charger manufacturing plant in Uttar Pradesh.

Delhi-based NSE-listed EV charging solutions company Servotech Power Systems has signed an agreement with the Uttar Pradesh Government to set-up an EV charger manufacturing plant in the state. As per the agreement, Servotech will invest Rs 300 crores in phases and will generate employment for more than 500 people.

The plant is likely to be operational in 2025 Q1 and will manufacture DC fast-chargers for domestic market and exports.

3. Funding for 2 companies involved in EV charging.

chargeMOD: Kozhikode (Kerala)-based EV charging company ‘chargeMOD’, has raised Rs 2.5 crores in a Pre-Seed funding round from Phoenix Angels, a Kerala-based angel network.

Fourth Partner Energy: Norwegian Investment Fund (Norfund), owned by the Government of Norway, has announced a fresh investment of Rs 350 crores in renewable energy solutions company Fourth Partner Energy. This is the second round of investment by Norfund in the Hyderabad-based company, which provides integrated renewable energy solutions and delivers end-to-end solar, wind, battery storage and EV charging solutions via a single platform, for corporate clientele.

4. EaseMyTrip joins hands with BluSmart.

Online travel company EaseMyTrip has announced a partnership with electric cab service provider BluSmart. EaseMyTrip will now have electric cabs in its existing fleet via this tie-up.

EaseMyTrip customers can now book BluSmart’s fleet of electric cabs in Delhi NCR and Bengaluru directly through the EaseMyTrip website and app for airport transfers.

5. BMW Mini launches a special edition EV.

BMW Mini has introduced the all-electric ‘Mini Charged Edition’ premium hatchback in India at Rs 55 lakh. This special edition Mini Cooper will be available as a CBU (completely built-up unit) with only 20 units on offer.

It is powered with a battery capacity of 32.6 kWh which gives a range of up to 270 km. The top speed is 150 km/hr. The Mini Charged Edition features a 5-inch multi-function instrument display and an 8.8-inch infotainment touchscreen.

BMW India will provide customers with a Mini Smart Wallbox charger and a portable DC charging cable as standard with the newly-launched offering. The car can be charged from 0 to 80% in 36 minutes using a 50kW DC fast-charger. BMW has fast-charging stations in 35 cities across the country through its dealership network. The company is offering an 8-year warranty on the battery.
