1. Hindustan Petroleum and ChargeZone plan big.

Vadodara-based EV charging company ChargeZone, has joined hands with oil & gas major Hindustan Petroleum (HPCL) to set up 500 high-speed charging stations across the country over the next 1 year. As per the terms of the deal, HPCL would provide the space for setting up the charging stations within their existing petrol pumps and ChargeZone will invest Rs.200 crore (with the cost of each charging station expected to be Rs.45 lakh). The project is expected to commence by October this year.

2. Punjab Government approves draft on EV Policy.

Punjab state government has given approval for a new electric vehicle policy. The new policy proposes waiving of registration fee & road tax and also proposes cash incentives for buying electric vehicles. The draft policy focuses on major cities such as Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Patiala & Bathinda that collectively have over 50% of Punjab's vehicles. The policy also includes setting up EV charging infrastructure across the state for private and public electric vehicles.

3. Mercedes India to set up fast-charging network across the country.

Luxury automaker Mercedes-Benz has announced its plans to install 140 EV fast-chargers across India by the end of this year. The official announcement was made during the launch of its new electric car ‘AMG EQS’.

These 140 fast-chargers will comprise the following: 100 22kW AC chargers, 20 60kW DC fast chargers and 20 180kW rapid EV chargers. In addition, the company is offering complimentary EV charging service to its customers for a year.

4. Hindustan Petroleum and Honda open 1st battery swapping station.

Hindustan Petroleum (HPCL) and Honda Power Pack Energy India (a subsidiary of Honda Motors) have jointly launched their first battery swapping station at HPCL’s COMCO outlet in Bengaluru. Customers will be able to exchange their depleted batteries with fully charged ones in 2 minutes at this new facility.

Sandeep Maheshwari, Executive Director (HPCL) said, "We are one of the biggest Charge Point Operators in the country with 1058 EV charging stations at our retail outlets across the country. Today, we are launching another game changing initiative in partnership with Honda. This ‘e:swap’ station will make swapping batteries a breeze for e-auto rickshaws in Bangalore."

5. EV charging company Park+ reveals big plans.

EV charging company Park+ signed an agreement with Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) at the opening ceremony of its ‘Carbon se Azadi’ Mahotsav 2022.

Park+ gave out a statement, “Through this initiative, we aim to strengthen the EV charging infrastructure for our partners and customers, while converting range anxiety into range excitement.”

The company has deployed more than 1000 EV zones in the last 5 months, with an average of 3 EV zones activated every day!
