1. Hero MotoCorp opens its 1st Hero Premia showroom.
Hero MotoCorp has opened its first-ever premium two-wheeler showroom in Kozhikode (Calicut), Kerala. It is called Premia.
The company had announced its intention for the ‘Premia’ plan during the launch of Harley-Davidson X440 and Karizma XMR. The newly-opened showroom has 'zones', each catering to different sets of buyers. The 3000 sq.ft store provides sales, service & spare parts. Initially, Hero Premia showrooms will showcase the XPulse 200, Karizma XMR, Harley-Davidson X440 and the Vida electric scooter range.
More such showrooms will be opened across the country in the next few months. Hero MotoCorp is working on a new strategy to succeed in the premium motorcycle business, an area in which it has struggled. The company is diversifying its portfolio of two-wheelers, strengthening its distribution network and scaling-up its EV game.
2. EV charging company Servotech files two patents.
EV charging & solar tech company Servotech Power Systems, has filed two patents for energy management. The first patent is titled ‘System and Method for Controlling Load Shifting by Third Party’ and involves a process that enables third-party players to control load shifting in a battery energy storage system (BESS). The tech allows third-parties, such as utilities and aggregators, to optimize energy flow using energy storage assets to provide their services.
The second patent is titled ‘System and Method for Effective Energy Channelization from a Renewable Energy Source’. It involves a process for efficiently channeling energy from a renewable energy source (such as solar or wind), into an energy storage system.
3. Formula E to return to India in 2024.
Formula E is coming back to India in the upcoming 2024 season. The FIA World Motor Sport Council approved the inclusion of Hyderabad in Season 10 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. India's Hyderabad will once again host the Formula E race on February 10, 2024. The debut race in Hyderabad in 2023 was completely sold-out and a huge success.
MotoGP, the world’s premier motorcycle racing championship also made its debut in India In 2023. It is also likely to return next year.
4. Shares of PVV Infra jump following announcement related to EV charging.
Shares of PVV Infra Ltd experienced a 5% jump following an announcement pertaining to installing & operating EV charging stations at various locations across the country. During a board meeting, the directors of PVV Infra stressed on the need for EV charging infrastructure, taking into consideration the growing number of electric vehicles on Indian roads.
The company will set-up charging stations at parking lots & state transport depots, and will work with equipment leasing & financing companies to implement these plans. PVV Infra share has given multibagger returns of 180% in the last two years.
5. Tork Motors introduces new riding mode for improved range.
EV startup Tork Motors has introduced a new ‘Eco+’ riding mode for its flagship Kratos R electric motorcycle. The new mode promises a significant increase in the bike's present range. During city use, the new Eco+ mode will allow riders to travel 150 km on a full charge, as per Tork Motors. However, there is a catch to it. This ride mode will limit the motorcycle’s top speed to 35 km/hr. The previous most efficient mode ‘Eco’, provided a range of 120 km, with a top speed of 50 km/hr.
The new Eco+ ride mode will be available in addition to the existing 3 modes: Eco, City & Sport. The company says the new mode will be best suited for use on congested city roads, where higher speeds are not required. This new mode will also be made available to existing Kratos-R customers via an over-the-air (OTA) update.
At present, Tork Motors is manufacturing its maiden product, the Kratos R electric motorcycle, at Bharat Forge's manufacturing unit in Chakan, near Pune.
