1. Multi-company initiative to set-up EV charging stations in Bengaluru.
Climate Pledge (an initiative co-founded by Amazon & Global Optimism) has announced a new project named JOULE (Joint Operation Unifying Last-Mile Electrification), which aims at building a network of shared EV charging stations in Bengaluru. The initiative is backed by funds worth $2.65 million to support around 5500 EVs by 2030. The 1st EV charging station as part of this initiative has been set-up at Doddakallasandra in the southern part of Bangalore. Five more EV charging stations will be installed in the city by the end of 2024.
Climate Pledge members such as Amazon, Mahindra Logistics, Uber, HCL Technologies & Magenta will jointly work to use these charging stations. 2. E-Fuel unveils 20 kW portable EV charger.
E-Fuel has unveiled its latest innovation: a 20 kW portable EV charger designed & developed in India. The new EV charger comes with wheels for easy mobility and a display to monitor charging process. The charger supports CCS2 DC charging. The company is also working on 10 & 30 kW variants of the same.
E-Fuel also announced expansion of manufacturing capacity to 20,000 EV chargers per annum. The company has achieved 3x growth in the last 2 years. It is projecting a 4x growth this year courtesy major OEM orders.
3. EV charging station inaugurated in Chennai.
An EV charging station belonging to DJT Haika & Smilex EV was inaugurated at a function in Chennai. Rajya Sabha MP from DMK Dr Kanimozhi Somu launched the EV charging station in North Chennai constituency. The website & EV charging app of Smilex EV was also launched.
The DC fast charging station has been indigenously developed, and is compatible with electric two, three & four-wheelers. AC chargers are also being indigenously developed, and the companies plan to install these all over Tamil Nadu.
4. Urzza EV and Novotel Visakhapatnam come together for EV charging.
Novotel Visakhapatnam, Varun Beach has come together with Urzza EV, a Visakhapatnam-based EV charging company. A special event was held which was attended by Sushil Reddy, a two-time Guiness World Record holder for the longest electric bicycle journey. He is currently on a 60 day electric bicycle journey across South India to raise awareness about clean mobility. As part of his 8000 km journey, Reddy made a stop at Novotel Visakhapatnam to charge his EV and participate in the event.
5. MG India & Jio come together to bring OTT aggregator OTTPlay in MG Windsor EV’s in-car entertainment system.
OTT aggregator OTTPlay has announced its availability on JioStore in-car entertainment system. OTTPlay will now be offered on JioStore, which has been integrated in the touchscreen infotainment system of the newly-launched MG Windsor EV.
With OTTPlay, car passengers will be able to access multiple streaming platforms directly on the car’s entertainment dashboard, just like they would on their television or laptop. OTTPlay packages allow users to access 13 OTT platforms, available for subscription via JioStore on MG Windsor EV’s infotainment system.
The MG Windsor EV comes with a 15.6 inch infotainment touchscreen, around the same size as a laptop. Apart from the basic functions, the Windsor EV's infotainment system allows users to control drive modes, provide battery state-of-charge (SoC) details, adjust air-conditioning, open the boot & control ambient lighting.
