1. Tata Power installs EV chargers at Ranthambore National Park.
To encourage green mobility at tourist places, Tata Power has installed EV charging stations at The Tigress Resort, Ranthambore (Rajasthan). Ranthambore National Park, famous for having a large population of Royal Bengal Tigers, attracts a large number of tourists every year.
Tata Power recently collaborated with Tata group company ‘Indian Hotels’ to set up EV charging points across its ‘amã Stays & Trails’ properties.
2. Telangana shortlists more than 1300 spots for EV charger installation.
Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation (TSREDCO) has selected spots in the state suitable for setting up EV charging stations. Once the necessary approval from Industries Minister KT Rama Rao is received, the corporation will start the installation process. TSREDCO has already set up 292 charging stations in Hyderabad and has identified 1301 areas across the state for future installations.
3. Indian Air Force inducts Tata Nexon EV in its fleet.
The Indian Air Force has inducted its first fleet of EVs. A flag-off ceremony was held where Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari did the honours. The fleet comprises of 12 Tata Nexon EVs. The current fleet will be deployed in Delhi NCR.
As more EVs are inducted in the air force, charging infrastructure will be set up across air force bases.
4. EV charging plans materializing in Chandigarh.
Chandigarh Administration had given its approval to the Electric Vehicle Policy and it came into force on September 20, 2022. Now, the Chandigarh Renewal Energy and Science and Technology Promotion Society (CREST) has given a statement that work order for setting up 44 EV charging stations equipped to charge 332 vehicles at a time and 26 battery swapping stations at various locations in the union territory has been allocated to two firms.
In the first two years of the EV policy period, 100 public EV charging stations will be installed. Charging rates have also been finalized: Rs.8 per unit for slow & moderate charging and Rs.10 per unit for fast charging. For convenience of EV users, CREST will develop an app to provide real-time information on charging stations such as availability of slots, type of station, location, navigation and tariff.
5. Mumbai-based startup PMV launches India’s most affordable electric car.
Mumbai-based EV startup ‘PMV’ has launched a micro electric car ‘EaS-E’, which is now India’s most affordable electric car. The two-seater car is priced at Rs.4.79 lakh. This price will be applicable for the first 10,000 customers only. So far, the company has around 6000 bookings for the car. The EV is available for booking for an amount of Rs.2000 on the company website.
It is the smallest electric car in the country and has seating for two adults and one child. The car is designed for city usage. Its features include a digital infotainment system, a USB charging port, air conditioning, keyless entry and airbags. The EV comes in three battery options. The higher range battery pack versions have been priced at Rs.6.79 & Rs.7.79 lakh respectively. The company provides 3kW AC charger with the car. Its top speed is 70 km/hr.
