1. Tenders for setting up EV charging stations in Goa and Pune.
The Goa Energy Development Agency (GEDA) has floated a tender for installing, operating and maintenance of 40 EV charging stations at various locations in Goa. The last date for submitting the bids is December 29, 2022. The charging stations must be installed within 5 months and maintenance must be provided for 10 years.
Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has also invited bids for setting up EV charging stations at PMC-owned properties. The corporation has issued a list of 92 locations for installing the charging stations. PPP model will be followed and the last date to submit the bids is December 13, 2022. The charging stations must be installed within 6 months.
2. Tata Power to set up 1000 EV charging points in Odisha.
Tata Power will install 1000 EV charging points in the next 5 years in Odisha. The company has already set up 50 EV charging points while 97 points are under various stages of installation. Keeping in mind Odisha's huge potential to harness renewable energy, Tata Power said that it would like to participate in renewable and clean energy growth in the state.
Tata Power is in the process of setting up an EV charging network at NH 16 which is a major national highway that runs along the east coast of India and connects 4 states: West Bengal, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh & Tamil Nadu. Tata Power is also working with Bhubaneswar Smart City Ltd (BSCL) in deploying charging stations at multilevel car parking lots and at important city spots.
3. EV charging startup ‘Greenie Energy’ to expand its low cost EV charging infrastructure.
Greenie Energy, a Mumbai-based EV charging startup, has announced plans to raise a $1 million follow-up round of funding after a successful pilot, in order to expand its EV charging infrastructure across India. The company's primary product is a hardware solution that has the ability to convert any simple electric socket into an EV charging point. This hardware solution can be operated using Greenie's mobile app. The company's software provides the owner of any electric socket the ability to monetize the same by converting it into an EV charging point by controlling who charges their EVs on the charger, determining a billing rate and receiving payment from the customer via the app. The company earns a hardware installation fee, a maintenance fee and a fee on every EV charging transaction. Greenie Energy had a successful pilot which was executed after a seed funding round of $90,000. The company has carried out around 50 installations across 5 cities and has signed MoUs for 500+ installations through its partnerships. The $1 million funding is to help Greenie expand its geographic footprint across the country.
4. EVRE deploys an EV charger in Belagavi (Karnataka).
Hyderabad-based EV charging company 'EVRE' has installed an EV charger in Belagavi (Karnataka). The EVRE 'Infinity' EV Charger has been deployed at HESCOM office (Hubli Electricity Supply Company), opposite Belagavi Railway Station. In August 2022, a tender for setting up 75 EV charging stations under PPP model in Belagavi district was floated.
5. Ather and BGauss introduce scheme to exchange your old petrol scooters for new electric ones.
Ather Energy has announced a partnership with CredR for a unique two-wheeler exchange scheme. People can now easily exchange their existing petrol two-wheelers for a new Ather electric scooter. At the moment, the scheme is only available in Bengaluru & Chennai. Customers will have to bring their old petrol 2-wheelers to Ather showrooms for physical inspection, after which an estimate will be issued through CredR’s app. CredR will provide real-time pricing quotes for the used two-wheelers that may be used to make the down-payment for a new Ather scooter.An exchange bonus of up to Rs 4000 will also be offered.
Mumbai-based BGauss (a part of RR Kabel) is also offering a similar scheme. One must drive their old petrol scooter to a BGauss dealership to know the old scooter’s best exchange price. An additional exchange bonus is also being provided. Then the customer can choose a new BGauss electric scooter, pay the difference to the dealer and ride out with a new e-scooter.
