1. EV startup Matter to sell its electric motorcycle through Flipkart.
Gujarat-based EV startup 'Matter' has teamed up with Flipkart to pre-book & sell its geared electric motorcycle ‘Matter Aera’. The two companies will also provide customers with special introductory offers & benefits on pre-booking of the electric bike. Matter made a statement: "Through Flipkart's extensive reach, customer insights & online marketplace experience, Matter will offer customers a seamless buying experience of the geared electric motorbike."
The Matter Aera is India’s first geared electric motorcycle.
2. The 10-seater Tata Magic EV to launch soon.
Tata Motors had unveiled Tata Magic EV at the 2023 Auto Expo. Tata Magic is a popular brand in the country’s commercial passenger market, and the company is all set to launch the electric version of the same. It is based on Tata Ace EV, which was launched in 2022. It is expected that the Magic EV will sport a battery pack between 14 kWh to 20 kWh. The EV will support fast-charging. The Tata Magic EV will be another addition to Tata Motors’ goal of achieving net zero emissions in the commercial vehicle industry by 2045.
The 10-seater EV will also feature a reverse camera.
3. Komaki launches the 2023 version of its Ranger electric cruiser bike.
Komaki has launched an updated version of its Komaki Ranger electric cruiser bike. It is priced at Rs 1.85 lakh. At present, the Komaki Ranger does not have any direct competitor in the market. The updated version has additional features like a 7-inch TFT display, 50-litre storage space and a new exhaust-shaped sound emitter which would emit a sound equivalent to that of a 650 CC engine growl. The Komaki Ranger sports a 4.5 kWh battery pack that offers a range of 200 km. The bike is also equipped with reverse mode.
The Ranger is targeted to customers looking for a cruiser-style bike (similar to Bajaj Eliminator).
4. Telugu cinema star Ravi Teja buys a BYD Atto 3 electric car.
Actor Ravi Teja recently added an electric car to his automobile collection. He has bought a new BYD Atto 3 electric car. He has also acquired a fancy registration number for the EV.
The Atto 3 is a premium electric SUV. It is priced at 33.99 lakh (ex-showroom) It features a 60 kWh BYD-proprietary ‘Blade’ battery which gives a range of 521 km. The battery takes 50 minutes to charge to 80% with an 80 kW DC fast-charger.
5. Yulu launches electric scooter.
Bangalore-based Yulu has launched a new electric scooter named ‘Yulu Wynn’. The Wynn’s introductory price is Rs 55,555. The new scooter can be booked on the company’s app & website for just Rs 999 (which is fully refundable). Post the introductory period, the electric scooter will be available for Rs 59,999. Deliveries for the same will begin mid-May.
The e-scooter not only has battery-swapping functionality, but also allows the battery to be taken out and charged at home. The scooter is available in two colours: red & white. Initially, the Yulu Wynn will be manufactured by Chetak Technology Ltd (CTL), a wholly-owned Bajaj Auto subsidiary.
