1. Raptee launches CCS2 fast charging compatible electric motorcycle.
Chennai-based EV startup Raptee has launched a high-voltage electric motorcycle, which has charging tech used in electric cars. Called the Raptee T30, it is claimed to deliver performance at par with 250-300 cc motorcycles.
The high-voltage electric motorcycle comes with an on-board charger, making it compatible with CCS2 car charging stations. The Raptee T30 is powered by a 240V 5.4 kWh battery which gives a range of 200 km. Using a 3.3kW charger, it takes 60 minutes to charge from 20-80%. And via a fast charger, the same can be achieved in 30 minutes. The electric bike can accelerate from 0-60 km/hr in under 3.5 seconds.
The Raptee electric motorcycle has been priced at Rs 2.39 lakhs and delivery is expected to start from January 2025.
2. Jupiter Electric Mobility kicks-off a promotional nationwide roadshow.
Jupiter Electric Mobility (JEM) has kicked-off a 2 month long nationwide roadshow. The roadshow is part of Jupiter’s strategy to lay groundwork before the launch of its ‘Jupiter Tez’ cargo electric four-wheeler in December 2024. JEM’s flagship, the Tez, has been developed for last-mile deliveries. It features a 30 kWh battery that the company claims ‘provides 25% more range than competitors’.
The roadshow will concentrate on areas where cargo EVs have higher potential for adoption such as Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Punjab & Haryana. Apart from the Tez electric four-wheeler, Jupiter is also focusing on expanding its dealership network and is also forging strategic partnerships with auto finance companies, EV charging infra companies and fleet operators. The company will introduce flexible leasing options for fleets & Driver Cum Owners (DCOs).
3. Atul Auto partners with Jio for EV telematics.
Atul Auto subsidiary Atul Greentech has partnered with Jio for advanced electric mobility solutions using Jio’s IoT technology. The solutions will be embedded in Atul’s passenger as well as cargo electric three-wheelers.
This tie-up will leverage Jio's advanced IoT mobility technology, integrating hardware, software & connectivity solutions to provide users real-time telematics data including vehicle tracking, battery state-of-health & state-of-charge monitoring, anti-theft security, navigation & routing.
4. Hyundai Motor India working on multiple electric cars.
Hyundai is all set to enter the mainstream EV market in the country with the launch of the Creta EV by January 2025. Apart from the Creta EV, Hyundai India plans to introduce more mass-market electric cars. Upon launch, the Hyundai Creta EV will compete with the recently launched Tata Curvv EV, the upcoming Maruti eVX & the MG ZS EV. The Creta EV will have the same design as the fuel-powered Creta, so it is expected to be priced competitively. After Creta EV, the company plans to launch the Inster EV, which will compete with the Tata Punch EV. Hyundai is also reportedly working on the electric variant of the Venue, which will compete with India’s most popular electric car, the Tata Nexon EV.
Hyundai has recently committed Rs 20,000 crore for EV development in India over the next 8 years. The company plans to make India its hub for manufacturing mass-market EVs. It has plans for an annual output of 90,000 electric cars from its EV manufacturing facility. This includes a considerable portion that will be reserved for exports.
5. Deliveries of the MG Windsor EV begin.
Deliveries of the MG Windsor EV have commenced across India. The Windsor had received more than 15,000 bookings on the 1st day of its launch, making it the 1st electric car in India to clock such numbers in a single day.
MG is offering the Windsor EV either with the battery, or with a battery rental scheme. The Windsor starts at Rs 9.99 lakh with BaaS and at Rs 13.5 lakh without BaaS. The company is also offering 1 year free EV charging for Windsor buyers.
