A test mule/prototype of the Hyundai Creta EV was recently spotted at a charging station. It looked identical to the conventional Creta. It was reported last year that Hyundai India was working on an electric SUV cheaper than the Kona Electric. A higher rate of localization will enable the company to price electric variant of Creta competitively. When launched, the Creta Electric will be priced between the Tata Nexon EV and the MG ZS EV. At present, Hyundai India sells two electric cars: the Kona Electric & the Ioniq 5.

5. Sweden to open the world’s first electrified road.
Sweden will be opening the world’s first permanently electrified road in 2025. The ‘electric road system (ERS)’ will enable EVs to get charged on the move. The highway chosen for this ambitious project is located in the middle of three of Sweden’s major cities: Stockholm, Gothenburg & Malmo. While overhead power lines are used for charging electric trucks, an inductive under-road charging system will be used for electric cars. Sweden has done a lot of testing with respect to such roads. A big example is the trial conducted on a 1.6 kilometer stretch of road in Gotland which was electrified using charge coils underneath the road. In the upcoming electrified road, a plate will be embedded under the road and EVs equipped with 'receiving coils' will be recharged as they pass over it.
Trials similar to the above are going on in Germany and US. India also has plans of electrifying a part of a highway by overhead power lines, with a separate lane catering to the charging needs of electric trucks.
