1. Charge Zone installs EV charging station at Marriott Agra.

Charge Zone has installed two fast-charging stations at Courtyard by Marriott in Agra. Saurabh Khanna, General Manager, Courtyard By Marriott, Agra stated: “We aim to meet the fast growing demand of guests using electric vehicles for their commute to Agra. With this initiative, not only do we expect to attract more guests but also establish the brand as a leader in sustainability. Charge Zone has installed two fast-charging stations at the property that are designed to charge these vehicles from 0 to 80% within 45-60 minutes.

2. Telangana awards a 550 electric bus contract to Olectra Greentech.

Olectra Greentech has been awarded a major electric bus order by Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC). The Hyderabad-based company has received a big order of 550 electric buses. This is the largest order for electric buses in South India. This new order by TSRTC includes 550 'low-floor' 12-metre intracity electric buses and 50 'standard-floor' 12-metre intercity electric buses. The intercity buses will operate between Hyderabad & Vijayawada and will be capable of travelling over 325 km on a single charge. The state-owned transport corporation expects to reduce operating costs via these e-buses. These buses will be charged at fast-charging stations.

3. A twitter poll by Ola Electric Founder.

In a poll on Twitter, Ola Electric Founder Bhavish Aggarwal asked people their view on barriers that prevent people from buying an EV. Lack of enough charging points emerged as the main reason, followed by cost. The poll and its result is shown below:

A person responded below the poll that apart from the 4 options given above, the 5th barrier is lack of knowledge about EV service & maintenance.

4. Electric cars touch a global milestone.

Paris-based global intergovernmental energy research organization ‘International Energy Agency (IEA)’, in a recent report said that one in every seven cars sold worldwide in 2022 was an electric car. In 2017, just one in every 70 cars sold was an electric one.

EV sales increased in every part of the world as production increased, oil became costly and government policies lent support. Globally, the best performing market was China, where one in every four cars bought in 2022 was an electric car. The European Union came second with one in five and then US, with one in ten.

5. EV charging startup ElectriVa expansion plans.

Delhi-based EV Charge Point Operator (CPO) ElectriVa has entered Karnataka by joining hands with Bangalore-based SIC, a firm with interests in financial markets. Sumit Dhanuka, Founder, ElectriVa, stated: “We have a target of providing EV charging facilities in the top 50 cities of the country in the next year.”
