1. After MG, now Tata Motors reduces its electric car prices.
Tata Motors has reduced the prices of its Nexon EV and Tiago EV. This reduction is mainly due to a fall in battery cell prices. The Tiago EV electric hatchback gets a price cut of Rs 70,000 and its prices will now start at Rs 7.99 lakh. The Nexon EV electric SUV gets a price cut of Rs 1.20 lakh. Prices for the medium range Nexon EV now start at Rs 14.49 lakh while the long range version starts at Rs 16.99 lakh. Prices of the recently launched Punch EV remain unchanged.
Batteries make up a major part of the overall cost of EVs. As battery prices go down, automakers will be able to bring the cost of electric cars closer to their petrol/diesel-powered variants. Earlier this month, MG had reduced prices of its MG Comet EV electric microcar and MG ZS EV electric SUV.
