1. Delhi EV Forum to be held on August 10.

The Delhi Government will host the 4th edition of ‘Delhi Electric Vehicles (EV) Forum’ on August 10. The state government will launch the ‘Charging Infrastructure Action Plan for Delhi’ at the event. The forum will be held at NDMC Convention Centre (Connaught Place). The ‘Switch Delhi’ EV Awards will also be given out to top performers in the electric mobility sector in the capital city.

In 2022, EV sales in Delhi are averaging close to 10% of all automobile sales on a monthly basis, which is the highest in India. March 2022 witnessed the highest EV sale percentage of 12.5%.

2. Niti Aayog planning a $5 billion fund to accelerate EV adoption.

India is reportedly setting up a $5 billion fund to support the adoption of electric vehicles in the country. The plan has been proposed by the government think tank NITI Aayog.

The US Agency for International Development (USAID) will provide technical assistance in setting up the fund, which is aimed at reducing the high upfront capital expenditure for EV ownership.

Plans include expanding EV charging network and battery swapping infrastructure, incentives for EV manufacturers and more.

A US Embassy spokesperson said, “USAID under its South Asia Regional Energy Partnership has collaborated with NITI Aayog to set up an electric vehicle financial services facility to advance electric mobility in India.”

3. Multibrand EV retailer ‘BLive’ opens 4th store in Hyderabad.

Multibrand EV platform ‘BLive’ opened its fourth EV ‘Experience Store’ in Hyderabad at Malakpet. The company has 3 other BLive stores at Pragathinagar, Hafeezpet and Bapu Nagar.

The BLive experience stores offer a wide range of products for personal mobility and solutions for businesses. Through these stores, BLive aims to promote sustainable mobility for all its customers by exhibiting multiple brands of electric two-wheelers, electric bicycles and electric delivery vehicles. The new store also has an in-house quick service kiosk, battery swapping facility and EV charging infrastructure.

BLive brings many brands under one roof including Kinetic Green, BattRE, LML, Techo Electra, Gemopai, E-Motorad, Hero, etc. The store will also offer charging solutions, expert guidance on selecting the right EVs and post sales service packages.

The company, in March, joined hands with OTO Capital, to provide electric two-wheeler financing.

4. Hero Electric starts construction of 2nd manufacturing plant.

Hero Electric has started construction of its 2nd manufacturing plant in Ludhiana (Punjab). The plant is being established on 10 acres of land with an annual production capacity of 2 lakh vehicles. This new plant will also serve as Hero Electric’s battery design & development hub.

Hero Electric has forged partnerships with 20 companies in the field of charging, servicing, battery swapping, rapid charging, shared manufacturing spaces, etc.

5. Smaller cities in Maharashtra demanding EV charging facilities.

Traders in Maharashtra’s Nashik & Ahmednagar have installed EV charging points in the two districts. The Nasik division of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) has so far given 17 connections to these EV chargers across the 2 districts while another 10 are in waiting.

Nashik & Ahmednagar have seen a rise in sale of electric vehicles and people are investing in EV charging facilities. The charging points are being setup by individuals for personal use as well as for recharging other people’s vehicle for a payment.

Polaris Renewable Solutions has a network of 5 charging stations in Nashik where the company is currently recharging EVs for free. The number of users of these stations is increasing.

More charging stations are expected to come up in nearby rural areas, where connections have been installed, but the chargers are yet to be set up.
