1. BYD India delivers 200 electric SUVs in a single day.
BYD India delivered 200 units of the Atto 3 electric SUV on September 17, 2023 across the country. Deliveries took place simultaneously across 6 places: Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad & Kochi.
The BYD Atto 3 is a 5-seater electric SUV which features a 60.5 kWh LFP battery. It gives a range of 521 km. The Atto 3 accelerates from 0-100 km/hr in 7.3 seconds and attains a top speed of 160 km/hr. Prices start at Rs 33.99 lakh.
At present, BYD has 24 dealerships in 21 cities across India and plans to expand this network to 53 showrooms by the end of 2023.
BYD recently announced a global deal with Stingray, a Canadian music & media tech company, and plans to embed the latter’s app into BYD’s infotainment system. The app will be available to BYD electric car owners by the end of the year.
2. EV charging infrastructure expansion in Tamil Nadu.
EV charging operators are planning to expand their charging networks in Tamil Nadu as fleet electrification accelerates in the state. TN state government recently allowed commercial & passenger fleets to ply on city roads with permits at zero cost. Before this order, EV charging operators had focused on setting-up chargers mostly along the highways. Now, public charging stations, catering to EV fleets, have come up as an opportunity to charging operators. Companies such as Zeon Electric have already started exploring plans to set-up charging stations within city limits and EV charging hubs.
3. Euler Motors and SIDBI join hands for EV financing.
Commercial EV manufacturer Euler Motors, has announced a collaboration with SIDBI to facilitate financing of its electric three-wheelers.
SIDBI gave a statement: “We have seen Euler’s growth in the commercial EV space and by associating with them, we plan to deploy as many EVs as possible, transform last-mile transportation and support the growing EV value chain. The loan products and offerings provided to Euler Motors will be tailor-made to facilitate more customer penetration, both in the retail and institutional spaces.”
Euler recently signed an agreement with EV-as-a-service logistics platform Fyn Mobility and will supply 2000 of its electric 3-wheeler ‘HiLoad EV’ over the next 18 months.
4. Penny stock hits upper circuit courtesy agreement with EV charging company.
Shares of IT company Bartronics India Ltd hit upper circuit after it announced an agreement with EV charging company Amplify Cleantech Solutions Pvt Ltd. The Bartronics stock is a multibagger which has performed exceedingly well since last year. Currently, the shares are trading at around Rs 10.10, which is above 37% its 20 day average & 86% above its 200 day average. The company is engaged in offering automatic identification solutions via bar code, RFID, etc and is likely to provide these services to Amplify Cleantech’s EV charging network which operates under the brand EVRE.
5. Shell inaugurates its largest EV charging station.
Shell has opened its largest electric vehicle charging station in Shenzhen, China. The EV charging facility is strategically located near the very busy Shenzhen Airport. It features 258 fast-charging points, and solar panels have been installed on the roof.
During its pilot run, this charging hub catered to 3300 EVs per day. The facility also includes retails stores, a café, vending machines and a luxurious driver’s lounge. The project is part of a joint venture between Shell and Chinese EV maker BYD.
Shell is a big player in the Chinese EV charging market and operates more than 800 EV charging stations across the country either through joint ventures or via wholly-owned subsidiaries.
