1. Statiq to supply 500 EV chargers to Hindustan Petroleum.
EV charging company Statiq has been awarded a tender by Hindustan Petroleum (HPCL), to install 500 EV chargers at HPCL’s petrol pumps across 12 states in the country. Statiq will supply 400 chargers of 3.3 kW capacity and 100 of 7.7 kW capacity. The company has previously installed 200 chargers at HPCL’s petrol pumps in several cities.
These chargers will be compatible with all types of EVs including two-wheelers, three-wheelers & electric cars.
2. Zeon’s funding and expansion plans.
EV charging company Zeon, which has a significant EV charging network in southern India, is planning to raise funds to expand its charging network throughout India by 2025. The company is preparing to raise Series A funding to support its expansion plans and is in talks with its investment bankers. At present, Zeon Charging's network comprises of 139 EV chargers at 90 locations across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.
The company plans to expand its charging network throughout the north and west part of the country in the next two years.
3. Delhi and Pune witness impressive spikes in EV sales.
Delhi: EV numbers continue to rise in Delhi with electric-powered vehicles contributing close to 15% of the overall registrations in March 2023. A total of 7926 EVs were sold in March, out of which four-wheelers were an impressive 20% and three-wheelers 12%.
Pune: Figures in Pune were also impressive with registration of EVs in the last financial year (2022-23) jumping by over 200%! In FY22-23, registrations of 27,679 electric two-wheelers were recorded, against just 8,668 in FY2021-22. This is an increase of over 219%! The city also registered 1825 electric cars in 2022-23 compared to only 961 in 2021-22, an increase of almost 90%.
4. Altigreen delivers 200 electric three-wheelers in a single day.
Bengaluru-based EV manufacturer Altigreen delivered 200 'neEV Tez' electric-three wheelers to logistics company Fyn Mobility in a single day. An event was organized at Altigreen’s showroom in Bangalore to deliver the vehicles.
The Altigreen NeEV Tez can be fully charged in just 15 minutes using Exponent’s e^pump and in 1 hour via a DC001 charger. Amitabh Saran, CEO, Altigreen, said, “This is a milestone for all of us at Altigreen. We are extremely proud to have given the world the neEV Tez - the world’s fastest-charging three-wheeler. It is overwhelming to see such a great response for neEV Tez from B2B and B2C customers alike.”
5. Honda to set up a dedicated plant for electric two-wheelers. Honda Activa Electric might roll-out soon.
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has plans to set up a separate manufacturing unit for electric two-wheelers. The company has plans to introduce a dedicated platform on which multiple electric scooter models with fixed & swappable batteries will be developed. HMSI will have a huge advantage in the electric scooter market in India courtesy its 6000 showrooms in the country and the popular Honda Activa brand name. The company will set up EV chargers and battery swapping kiosks at its showrooms. Honda is working on two EVs, one of these will be a mid-range, fixed battery scooter while the other will have battery-swapping functionality. One of these two is likely to use a derivative of the Honda Activa chassis.
