1. Most affordable electric motorcycle launched.

Electric two-wheeler company ‘PURE EV’ has launched India’s most affordable electric motorcycle called ‘ecoDryft’. The launch price is Rs 99,999 (ex-showroom Delhi). The ecoDryft features a 3 kWh battery which offers a range of upto 130 km. The claimed top speed is 75 km/hr. The motorcycle is available in 4 colours: Black, Blue, Grey & Red. Bookings for the new electric motorcycle are now open.

2. BMW planning to launch an electric scooter in India.

The motorcycle brand of BMW called ‘BMW Motorrad’, is all set to launch an electric scooter in India. The futuristic ‘CE 04’ is already available in the US & Europe. It is expected that the design & features in the Indian version will be similar to the international version, however the powertrain specs may be different. The CE 04 electric scooter features a 10.25 inch high resolution instrument cluster, which offers navigation & smartphone connectivity. The scooter hosts a 8.9 kWh battery which offers a range of 130 km. It can accelerate from 0 to 50 km/hr in just 2.6 seconds and the top speed is120 km/hr.

3. India’s cheapest electric car PMV EaS-E on Shark Tank India.

Mumbai-based EV startup ‘PMV Electric’, which presented India’s cheapest electric car ‘PMV Eas-E’, recently appeared on Shark Tank India. The founder of the company Kalpit Patel presented the electric two-seater micro car infront of the sharks and asked for an investment of Rs 1 crore for 1% equity in his company. The entrepreneur was not able to make a deal on the show but his pitch on Shark Tank India has brought fresh attention to the company and the electric micro car.

4. Mahindra XUV400 EV gets 10,000 bookings.

On Republic Day, Mahindra had started accepting bookings for its XUV400 EV. The electric SUV has garnered tremendous response from the public and bookings have crossed 10,000 within one week. Mahindra claims that the company might take up to 7 months to fulfil these bookings with current production capacities. The XUV400 EV is offered in two battery options: 34.5 kWh & 39.4 kWh, with a range of 375 km & 456 km respectively. The claimed top speed is 150 km/hr. The EV was presented at an introductory price of Rs 15.99 lakh to Rs 18.99 lakh, applicable for the first 5000 bookings of each of the two variants.

5. BYD India inaugurates first showroom in Kolkata.

BYD India inaugurated its first showroom in Kolkata, West Bengal. The showroom is situated at Tagore Park, in the southern part of Kolkata.The showroom is spread across 2497 sq feet, has a vast display floor, a customer lounge, a 7.2 kWh charger for internal use and a 60 kWh fast-charger for customers and public. BYD’s electric MUV ‘e6’, electric SUV ‘ATTO 3’ & its special edition are all displayed at the dealership. Sanjay Gopalakrishnan, Senior VP of Electric Passenger Vehicle Business, BYD India, gave a statement: “We are delighted to announce the inauguration of our first passenger car dealership in Kolkata. We are currently expanding our dealership network across the nation. We are delighted to see that West Bengal state is going to set up 1000 charging stations for electric vehicles within the next two years in order to encourage further adoption of eco-friendly automobiles.” BYD India aims to have 53 showrooms by the end of 2023 and is targeting the number two spot in the Indian passenger EV market.
